More like: great wealth creates an incentive to become a crony-capitalist. The ultra-wealthy can use their connections in government to amass more wealth, more easily than by having to create actual products for the common people. The bigger and more powerful the government grows, the more value their "connections" into government have.
I wouldn’t put it past FB/DNC to be working with Dr. Robert Cialdini to be helping the hildabeast. This sort of stuff is right up his alley.
There’s a huge market out there. Our government, our politicians, the entire media.

You misread my comment. If you actually read it you’ll note that I said “in the private sector’. Government and politicians are in the PUBLIC sector. I think there’s universal agreement on that.
With respect to the entire media, I understand why you would say that because it is a dishonest and biased enterprise. But while it is mostly a private sector occupation, it is not a huge job market. Look at what the Bureau of Labor Statistics says about “Reporters, Correspondents, and Broadcast News Analysts”. The facts point out that its a very small market with low job prospects.
You’re right - I should have said “not only our government and our politicians but the entire media,” And you are right about correspondents and newspaper reporters. Those jobs are few and far between.
But the media - that’s a different story. There are many jobs out there. Not in newspapers or television but in social media. Just about every company has people working the social media, just like every company has marketing people controlling the ads that pop up on your computer screen.
Tiny companies, even mom and pop country bed and breakfasts hire people to send messages to your screen. For example - just type ‘Brass Lantern Inn Nantucket” into google. Guess what is going to pop up on your computer screen over the next few weeks. Just sign up with your grocery store to get specials and they monitor everything you buy.
Everything you do on Facebook is monitored. They collect about 100 pieces of personal information on all its users. Also - this is sobering:
“The data-collection machine in the United States is a behemoth. Data broker Acxiom told the FTC it has some 3,000 data segments for nearly every consumer in America. Datalogix, which works with Facebook, has personal information about almost every U.S. household, according to the FTC. “
Those Facebook guys / gals will have zero trouble finding jobs.
I did a little bit of research on an area that we visited recently. Just looking for “things to do”. Now I get pop ups extolling the wonders of that county nearly every hour. I give them credit for their marketing prowess! lol
Yes, social media is alive and well. I’m not into social media but I do have some related investments that have been profitable. So I hope the industry prospers. :)
My Facebook news feed stinks. Some things stay at the top for days. Others I see once and then can’t find them. Is there a way to adjust settings for the news feed to keep the newest things at the top?

There was someone here on FR who once used the word ‘nitpicking’ on an email he sent. He said he started getting ads for medicine to kill head lice.
The other day I was looking at Lake Placid on the net. Now I’m getting lots of pop ups from hotels in the area.
I have a guy friend who goes on Victoria Secret once in a while. He says he then gets a lot of pop ups from them.
