For left wingers “free speech” means you’re protected from anybody doing anything to you. When somebody on the right has an unpopular opinion the left screams and reminds us that the 1st Amendment only applies to government.

This plays right into why I’ve not been a fan of professional sports for decades. For baseball, it was the strike that did it in for me. I’ll watch the Bats play here in Louisvlle from time to time, but that’s it. I might watch a few football plays on the TV in a sports bar while meeting with friends at work.
But honestly, I’m more of a doer than a watcher, and these pros simply don’t deserve my money.
It’s a “lack of appreciation” issue!
I know he’s the back up QB, but assuming he’ll play on occasion, here’s what the fans should do. As soon as he goes on to the field, the fans should rise en masse and start singing the national anthem as loudly as they can - repeatedly.
If the team was smart, they would tell him “You can sit, but you will need to sit inside, not on the bench in public. And Security will enforce this.”
He did not make his case.
His employer is not compelling him to stand for the anthem (nor do they have to, but they can if they want).
This IS a free speech issue. Just because you don’t agree with some stupid thing someone says or does (or doesn’t do) doesn’t mean it’s not free speech.
Boycotts are also free speech. If the author doesn’t like the behavior of the player, the team, or the NFL, then boycott them. That is free speech countering free speech.
We don’t want to be in a situation where the government FORCES us to do profess something we do not believe in.
PLEASE. Understand how this attitude is dangerous for everyone. Do not tread on my free speech rights while claiming you are not.
The player is an idiot but not dangerous, the author of this piece is both.
You either believe in free speech or you don’t. If you don’t, then you are an enemy of the Constitution.
Hmmm The people that are applauding Kaepernick are the same ones who were up in arms and ridiculing Tebow. Tells me all I need to know.
