I have a CC permit. I would move away from such a place. Big cities are not good places to live. And they aren’t required for making good money either.

From my own personal experience:
In the mid-90’s I was serving in an exchange assignment with the Royal Air Force, in a London-based MoD think tank. I was the senior US adviser to the commandant.
On a visit to DC, I was escorting numerous senior-level RAF officers (to include flag rank), and many senior-level British Army and Royal Navy officers.
I knew Gore’s military aide and my friend set-up a personal tour of the White House.
While escorting us on the tour, he received a radio call and we were quickly hustled into the nearest room—a dark closet (folding chairs and tables everywhere).
What was going on, we wondered as we were hushed and told to be silent while in the dark. A terror attack? A national security incident? What?
We started to hear muffled footsteps and they came closer and closer. . .and we could see the shadows under the door of several people passing by. A few moments after they passed we were released from the closet.
What happened? My friend explained.
Hitlery demands to see NO ONE when she walks through the White House, and no one is to make eye contact with her. No exceptions. None.
So, when my friend received word the “Beast” was on the move, everyone was scattered and we ended up in a dark closet. . .to avoid being seen or (gasp!!) making eye contact.
Great way to treat senior officers of our closest ally.

Check out the Troy AR15 pump action rifle. Being manually operated it is not subject to the odious Commifornia gun laws, other than the absurd 10 round magazine limit. You can have all the evil features, with the bonus of being able to use a folding stock, unlike a standard AR.

Around 1984 I was walking with a co-worker on Granby Mall in Norfolk. We paused for a while and were carrying on a conversation when a huge Black guy walks to around 5 feet of us and just starts glaring at us.
When I say huge, I mean around 6’7” and maybe 260 lbs. He also looked a little mentally off. I and my friend were both armed and I was thinking to myself if I would be justified in shooting him if he attacked.
My friend was probably smarter than me and he suggested we move on. Fortunately the guy did not follow.
