The author of this piece is reading too much ideological and intellectual depth into a political movement where there is no thought whatsoever.

Black Lives Matter is driven by the base, visceral hatred for white people among many American blacks. That's about the extent of the movement's philosophy and ideology. When BLM types rioting and burning or making posts about killing cops, a 19th century German dialectical philosopher isn't what's on their minds.

Interesting though that the Gaither Report (Deterrence & Survival in the Nuclear Age) came out one month after the launch of Sputnik.

I suspect among some circles, there was a defeatist attitude. (if we can’t beat them, join them)
