the stealth earpiece operates on a bandwidth from 300 Hz to 4KHz.

Heh - never let reporters near a technical subject.

I suspect it transmits on a frequency much higher than that, since that range is QUITE AUDIBLE.

If one were prepared, one could probably hijack the signal and substitute your own, such as the theme song from Gilligan's Island, or maybe a Patrick Stewart Shakespeare soliloquy.

An inductive earpiece as described would have the signal at audio frequency rather than at a higher carrier frequency. So that part is plausible.

What makes it a junk news story is that there’s no sourcing. The claim is this is coming from one or more people in the NYPD, but there’s no indication of who.

On top of that, the earpiece claim is absurd. Would Hillary really do an appearance like this with a sneaky earpiece in place? There are cameras doing close shots, she’s got makeup people hovering around her. Seems unlikely to say the least.

If you look at the RealPundit website (which seems to be run by some rambunctious kids out of Philadelphia), you’ll see that they have a page where you can contact them with “News Tips”.

Is it possible someone sent them this rather farfetched story as a “tip” to yank the internet’s chain?

I was thinking Yoko Ono, but I’m not sure even Hillary deserves that.

It’s likely encrypted traffic. They best you could do is jam the frequency range, you wouldn’t be able to listen in, or substitute your own message.

Incidentally, even consumer grade transceivers are digitally encrypted nowadays, which is great, because with remote controlled planes there is no longer any chance of one control interfering with another. All the planes operate on the same frequency, but the encryption is different for each.
