Reason, need for Kaepernick’s protest keeps getting clearer

It’s time to talk about Colin Kaepernick’s why.

Since somebody noticed him not standing for the anthem on August 26, the national dialogue — in the sports world especially — has been on everything but his why.

The lack of commentary regarding the latest African-American man killed by police from all those who spoke so strongly against Kaepernick shows they don’t care enough about Kaepernick’s why. Of course, that only justifies his why, which boils down to a persistent theme: African-Americans aren’t as valued in this country.

So far in 2016 171 African-Americanshave been shot by police

In 2014 2,205 African Americans were killed by other African Americans

Case in point:

8-year-old girl’s killer sentenced to death for 2 murders

An Oakland man was sentenced to death Wednesday for killing 8-year-old Alaysha Carradine in 2013 by spraying bullets into a sleepover party in the Dimond neighborhood and then gunning down a 22-year-old man during a robbery two months later in Berkeley.

Where are the protestors in the streets of Oakland?

Probably a lot of guilt on his part for being brought up by whites. He’s got a screw lose, but it is his right to protest. It’s our right to turn him off too.

697 people fatally shot so far this year by police, 172 were black. Not sure on the ethnic breakdown of the other 500 or so, nor do I have the stat on how many were justified.

Bottom line, it is not only blacks being shot by police.

All ths beng said, the way in which Kaepernick is protesting is dumb. Last I checked the police force was not a national police force, they are local.

These people live in parallel universes. The reason for his protests have been crystal clear from day 1.

There's something about this that sounds familiar.

Correct. I’m exercising my right not to watch any of the games.

The protest by Kaepernick and others might have more credibility or support if there was more outrage over the epidemic of unprecedented black on black violence in Chicago. They act as if that is not happening or is inconsequential. When you deny an obvious, and directly related problem of that magnitude, you lose credibility and sound like a hypocrite.

Lots of people are doing that. Just not watching the spectacle and political circus that football has become.

He had the stage and couldn’t articulate what the protest was all about.

People watch sports to get away from politics, news and opinions contrary to their own. It’s a break, a time out, and now sports is being politicized. The public is sick of all of it which is why they are turning to Trump.

This Kaepernick crap is just making more Trumpsters.

I say go Kaepernick, go Kaepernick, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

***So where is the rampant concern over the anguish athletes must be feeling, watching their kind being gunned down by police? ***

I want to know where why the black athletes aren’t anguished over their kind being gunned down by their kind?

The mood in the country is definitely shifting, especially against all the PC crap.

The mood in the country is definitely shifting, especially against all the PC crap.

And against the bullying of On-The-Teat blacks, who have filled the jails, infected the culture and never really grabbed the ring of freedom that was afforded to them in blood and toil by their forefathers. LBJ(may he rot in the grave) was truly a racist demon who knew what he was doing back in the mid-sixties. Welfare in itself in legalized theft and ungodly and there will never be any fruit from the ungodly. I see this as the last gasp of that welfare state in its current form and the black urban community sees this and is rioting because the days of copious AFDC, WIC and other programs maybe coming to an end. We are out of money. Next up 65 year olds and their insatiable appetite for free stuff, WE ARE OUT OF MONEY.

With all of the violence we’ve seen over the last few days in the aftermath of two more police shootings, it’s clear that Colin Kaepernick hasn’t accomplished a damn thing by sitting his ass down during the national anthem.
