Just weeks before the Nov. 8 election, a federal appeals court has ruled that Ohio’s method of purging names of inactive voters from voter rolls is unconstitutional. Ohio, a battleground state in the presidential race, removed the names of tens of thousands of registered voters under what it calls its “supplemental process." Under this controversial method, voters were taken off the registration rolls after six years of not voting, regardless of whether they remained eligible to vote. ......

I apologize for duplicating your work. I did search but obviously not thoroughly enough.

No problem. It’s good to have more than one article. Sometimes freepers don’t see the first one - and also some articles differ by including more info like that DOJ mention in the WaPo article.

I think we should do like we made Iraq do. After you vote you dip your entire hand in purple ink. A finger isn’t enough

Funny, but the media didn’t report who the dead people in Colorado voted for. I’m guessing Hillary by a huge margin.

No, RoseofTexas. We (me and mine) won’t cast fraudulent votes. That’s just as bad as the left.

One of the first acts of the new congress is to start systematically impeaching all liberal judges and replace them with strict constitutionalists . . . assuming there are any left.

And there’s no disparate impact that can be argued here, either (not that that is constitutional either, but it’s often used as grounds to overturn state laws).

> They should delete the records so they can’t restore the names.

Well where I’m from you have to renew your voters registration card every two years. If you don’t register you go inactive. If you wanted to vote you would register, right? So all this BS tells me is that the Democrats are going to register these inactive or dead voters to cast votes for Hillary. It’s truly despicable. It should really be against the law.

Given Ohio’s timing and approach to thinning out the “unqualified” voters, it seems like Ohio officials wanted the court to stop them.

Corrections, insights welcome.

I don’t know the rules in Ohio, but many states allow voters to cast provisional ballots. If a legitimate voter is purged by this, wouldn’t they still be able to vote? I’m talking about a person who thinks they are registered, shows up at the polls, and is told they aren’t on the list.

Oh, Judge we are so sorry! The disk drive was cleaned with BleachBit to protect identities and then someone accidentally destroyed it with a hammer. If you give everyone involved immunity, we’ll testify, but we will all claim our 5th amendment rights just because we can. That’s similar to what the FBI has OK with people doing lately, so you should be OK with it, too, right?.

What this amounts to is uncomstitutional overthrow of states rights to enfoce their reasonable voter laws.

They should probably pull an IRS or State Dept move and just say oops all gone, cant find them.

Fedgov gets to do it.

As I thought, being purged does NOT prevent a person from casting a provisional ballot. NO voting rights are denied. This ruling is a travesty!

the media didn’t report much of anything so you can safely assume the dead people weren’t voting for Republicans because we would never hear the end of it if that were the case.

The court is wrong. There are reasons to require a person recertify their presence in a precinct.

My point was I wish they would have destroyed all records of the voter registrations they removed, so no lib Judge could order them restored.
