Trump unleashes early-morning Twitter tirade against ‘disgusting’ Alicia Machado

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump took to Twitter early Friday morning to go to war with his latest campaign nemesis: former Miss Universe Alicia Machado.

During the debate earlier this week, Democrat Hillary Clinton brought up Trump’s past weight-shaming comments about Machado, who was Miss Venezuela when Trump took over the Miss Universe beauty pageant in 1996. Machado, now a well-known actress in Latin America, says Trump once called her “fat,” “ugly” and “Miss Piggy,” among other things.

In tweets posted a little after 5 a.m. on Friday, Trump brought up reports indicating that Machado was once accused of driving a getaway car from a murder scene in Venezuela. (Earlier this week, CNN’s Anderson Cooper asked Machado, who was never charged, about the allegation. She admitted to not being a “saint girl” but said the real issue at hand was Trump’s attempt to “destroy my self-esteem.”) Trump also suggested that the public “check out” Machado’s “sex tape and past.”

He is. He’s relentless.

Killary handed Trump a club. Let him use it. His self defense has been pretty measured. Go read his tweeter tirade yourself. Will take all of 5 seconds.

The problem is that the media has made it an issue he can’t ignore. When Megan Kelly spends half of her show talking about it he has to address it. It is an attempt to keep people from talking about Hillary’s record, lies, poor health and criminality. Unfortunately, he has to address it.

This Machado attack is part of a pre scripted media attack coordinated with the Clinton Campaign.

It was one of several trial balloons Hillary floated at the debate and its the only one that Trump did not shhot down in the debate.

This Machado silliness is the least damaging and serious of Hillary's trial balloons so the fact that this is the only one the media has in play shows Trump shot down the Clinton/Media post debate script before it ever got off the ground.

It's also backfiring against Clinton as revelations about Macho continue to roll out and it's the only ammunition Hillary has to paint Trump as a rabid misogynist.

The media is running with this cause it's all got and Trump has no choice but to counter attack.

In this case, Bill and Hillary's long term abuse of the Politics of Personal Destruction (perfected by the Clintons BTW) against women allows Trump to go on the offensive rather than have to play defense on this issue.

It's taking time from issues, but it highlights Hillary's lying, bad judgment , incompetence, lack of temperament and high lights her desperation and he campaigns bankrupt platform to run on.

Trump is hitting this random bimbo harder on Twitter than he hit Hillary in the debate when she was standing right in front of him.

That's an excellent point.

I used to play hockey with people like this. They'd lose a game 8-0 and then sit there in the locker room afterwards complaining about some @sshole on the other team who was a dirty bastard and should have had his @ss kicked.

Excellent post.

He corrected the record; now he can move on. And 5 a.m. is not the middle of the night.

Btw, Hillary (or someone claiming to be her) was tweeting in the early hours too.

Mike Gallagher is discussing this on Chicago radio...AM 560, I think (I’m listening on the internet).

I wish it would just go away. This hurts Trump the longer it goes on.

They should be talking bout other stuff.

"F'n drama" is a presidential candidate taking to Twitter at 3 a.m. tweeting about a beauty queen, referencing her sex-tape, and, with no evidence that I am aware of, suggesting that his opponent secured her citizenship in exchange for her story.

That's "drama."

I have defended Trump over and over again, but the hardest lift of all is on his temperament. If you don't think this doesn't feed into reinforcing the worst perceptions of him, particularly at this point in the campaign, you are fooling yourself.

Exactly! It wasn’t a tirade. He sent 3 tweets that questioned Hillary’s judgement. The press is hoping you don’t read the tweets and read thier headlines.

Stop with all the hand wringing. Stop falling for the media lies.

The Media/Clinton campaign takes those 3 tweets and x them by a 100. Trump is feeding their narrative. He’s spending nearly all his time defending himself instead of hitting back twice as hard on issues like trade and immigration. If he wants to get down in the weeds he should hit hard on Elian Gonzalez, Hillary defending a child rapist, Juanita Broaddrick, etc.

I think he should stop talking about this and Bill's affairs. He should stick to one of the main reasons he should be elected instead of Hillary; How to keep us safe.

Donald should just list all the Muslim terrorist attacks in the U.S recently, put forth his plan for keeping us safe and then state that Hillary has vowed to increase Muslim 'immigrants' by 500%.

Trump has not commented on this with the exception of this mornings tweet. Hillary and the media are the ones who keep harping on it day after day. Get your facts correct and be part of the revolution.

Correct. When he does foolish stuff like this, chasing mexican judges, gold star families, and now pageant queens down a rabbit hole, he looks unfocused and petty.
