Garden City Lieutenant Tim McMillan writes he pulled over the man and, when he approached his vehicle, the man was visibly shaken and seemed terrified.
The man asked McMillan what he wanted him to do.
McMillan told the man he just didn’t want him to get hurt.
The man asked if McMillan wanted him to exit the vehicle, and McMillan told him no and he didn’t want him to text and drive.
He continued, saying he wanted his mother to “always have her baby boy.”
He also told the man he wanted him to grow up and be somebody.
McMillan also writes in the post he doesn’t care who is at fault for young black men being afraid of police officers but he wishes somebody would fix it.

It wasn't mean. That level of fear wasn't justified - he was hiding something.
This crap is a trick.
My daughter is a blues singer, works with and associates with many blacks. She has told me many are truly terrified of the police. This is what democrats and their media want. It divides us with fear and hatred.
I didn’t. Got a text drive tix a year ago. Ironically it was a black cop...in front of the court house. 6 months later, went back to the same stupid courthouse and won.

Not necessarily. I had a bad few months where it seemed the police were right there when I did my one act of the week type of traffic violation and I would get a ticket. I was starting to shake when the police would approach my car because it meant getting another few hundred dollars in fines and some demerits.
I don’t mule drugs.
Seriously, people who aren’t doing anything (much), and who have two brain cells to rub together haven’t got anything to fear.
It’s real simple:
Do what the officer tells you to do.
Don’t attack a cop.
Don’t look/act/talk like you’re *going* to attack a cop.
In Georgia, an officer knocked on the door, a 13 year old (white) boy came to the door with a Wii in his hand. Hee was shot. No punishment for the officer. What did that 13 year old kid do wrong?
Nothing, that was a miscarriage of justice.
But I think we’re talking about cops interacting with black men.
Then there are people who are deaf, epileptic, autistic, having a stroke, having a heart attack, having an allergy attack, or otherwise temporarily incapacitated who are then immediately killed by police officers - because the people in question didn’t *immediately* comply with verbal orders. Those things shouldn’t be death sentences, just like carrying a Wii shouldn’t be, but they are. The system is broken.
I had a similar experience - one day I was having a really really really bad day... I went through the “afterglow” of a yellow light and got pulled over. I totally lost my composure.
The copper took pity on me and gave me a pass.
I was extremely relieved.
Yes, they need to have smarter cops, and more use of non-lethal weapons like beanbag rounds.
But you also have morons who think that they’re supposed to be able to resist, fight, ignore, and escape police doing their lawful jobs, without any consequences.
Rabble-rousing politicians and other “leaders” don’t help either.
I think body cameras on police and stating such in every instance might help, especially in white - black situations. Public service messages on how to behave in police situations, too.
In all my years of driving, I have never been pulled over by a lieutenant or even a sargeant.
