Thank you, Rooster!

I’ve been sick of the way affordable software keeps getting dumbed down.

LOL, Lord!, RR, don’t own a pair of waders that high. This is way above my water line :)

I have forwarded this information to those who do have the intelligence to understand and might find it beneficial to them. Thanks for the H/T!

Hate drones?

At age 70, I'm no longer capable of climbing a ladder safely, nor inclined to crab walk the crawl spaces to locate a possible leak or nasty smell from a decaying varmint, so the prospect of using a small drone with a video camera to go to those places intrigues me.

Just a small list of items where a small quadcopter drone will find beneficial use:

A quick visual check of my roof and gutters.

Harassing and attacking carpenter bees.

Inspecting my low attic space for evidence of roof leaks.

Under the bed fly through searching for lost socks and dust bunnies. As well as under my vehicles.

Exercising the dogs when my back is acting up... and maybe cobbling together a pooper scooper. ;>)

All this without having to program an arduino or raspberry pi... though I'm intrigued by the idea.

I welcome my little minions dedicated to doing my bidding.

Just imagine, calling them all forth at reveille, assemble for inspection, command them to drop and do 100 jump ups while I sip my coffee and grin.

I'm glad you mentioned it.

I haven't but I have been thinking about it in the dark recesses of my mind.

I am learning to code though (if you consider VBA for Excel coding). Have gotten pretty good at it.

I’m trying to get a project going for our Boy Scout troop. Kill the Electronics and Programming merit badges while doing it. I just made my board blink for the first time. Next is conquering the bread board.

I purchased the Elegoo Mega and I'm excited to figure out some fun things to do with it.

"Is Arduino the same as Raspberry Pi?"

Similar, but not the same. The Pi costs a little more, has more hardware features included on the board, runs Linux and has a larger support community while the Arduino is a more basic hardware package with your choice of several embedded operating systems - which may not be a benefit for new users that would like a simple Linux system but would be an absolute necessity for any applications that need high resolution timing. Arduino also has a smaller though very capable and very helpful community of users and developers.
