Anthony Weiner is cooperating with feds investigating his sexting scandal — turning over his laptop to the FBI — even as Hillary Clinton has not bothered to ask her top aide, Huma Abedin, what’s on the device she shared with her estranged husband.
The laptop that Weiner may have used for communicating with a 15-year-old North Carolina girl also had emails of Abedin’s that are relevant to the Clinton email investigation.
Fox News’ Bret Baier reported Sunday that Weiner had given that laptop to the FBI — and that therefore a warrant may not be necessary to search the device.

Mook, citing a report that a warrant had not been obtained by the FBI to examine Abedin’s emails, claimed that it’s possible nobody has looked at the emails on the laptop.
But this new report — that Weiner is cooperating and that a warrant may not be necessary — sheds new light on the ongoing scandal with Weiner, Clinton and Abedin.

OK, this sets up an interesting question.
It may be that Carlos Danger owns the laptop. But, who owns the data on the laptop?
Perhaps the fine legal minds here on FR can provide some insight...

hum. My understanding is that NYPD/SVU already had it.
How do we know that the FBI doesn’t want Weiners laptop so THEY can destroy it?
I wouldn’t want to be the one to touch the keys. Yuck! I’d wear gloves.
That’s what I thought too! He was being investigated and his computer has been out of his hands for a good while.
Weiner would cut a deal in a second if given the chance.
He KNOWS a lot because huma is a bigmouth and I’m sure told him plenty.
For Now I’m going over to my electoral vote calculator and scour over it like a deranged mad scientist.

got a look regarding his texting scandal.
I believe this is the biggest reason Comey reopened the investigation.
Bad news for Hillary. Anthony Weiner is not known for keeping his mouth shut.

FBI to Huma- “Just the fax, ma’am. Now may we peek at your laptop?”
Hillary to Huma- “I said lapdance, not laptop!”
Huma to FBI- “I don’t know where my husband stuck it.”
Weiner to FBI- “Excuse me while I whip this out!”
IIRC the Manhattan DA’s office convened a grand jury in the Weiner case on October 18th and issued subpoenas for all devices owned or accessed by Weiner. That is normal DA/ NYPD-SVU procedure. So his computer is already evidence in a criminal investigation of which he is the target. So if this is true and not my imagination, he no longer has custody of the computers. The Manhattan DA’s prosecutor for sex crimes and child abuse does. The Feebs probably asked for file copies with the intention of opening their own case against Weiner, but no fed grand jury had been empaneled and until it is, Manhattan DA has jurisdiction.
