Back in April, there were already early signs in this quiet Michigan town of the rural American discontent that helped propel Donald Trump to election victory, even if it was underestimated by the Washington establishment, pollsters and Hillary Clinton's campaign.
On a return visit after Tuesday's election, Reuters found that many of Algonac's 4,000 residents were jubilant that Trump had captured the White House, although there were also echoes of what some people said seven months ago: that he is an uncertain, high-stakes gamble.
But the bare fact of his success drew only shrugs: Who else did city folks really expect would win?

Those deplorables.
To have seen Trump coming, the MSM would have had to tell the truth. Instead, the media tried to push Hillary’s popularity with phony polls. The truth is a stubborn thing.
I saw him coming from way back. Most of us that get our news from the internet thought he’d win.
I wish leftists would stop using the term ‘folks’.
They use it with disdain, with not a spec of respect.
#TeamDeplorable is much like the Spanish Inquisition, no one expects us.
I used to work in Algonac. Nice town.

“Trump that Bitch” (from article)
HOORAY Algonac. HOORAY Trump. Thank you, sir.
The elite in media, business, and government just can’t figure out why the people in fly over country aren’t happy with our crumbs.
I’m from Michigan and I saw many “Trump that Bitch!” signs in my travels up north this summer. Many “Remember Benghazi” signs. and many, many, many Trump/Pence signs. I had a feeling Michigan could go red. We weren’t buying 0bama’s crap.
The Inquisition, what a show...nice Mel Brooks reference there.
Doh, got my comedic inquisition references mixed up.
Deplorables are the new bitter clingers, I guess.
I think the protest in California and for sure in Chicago galvanized an additional layer of support for Trump. My Dad went to Trump after the Chicago fiasco. The truth at that time, which we found out in the emails was that the protests were planned and sponsored. I really do think this ticked off many who were not that interested in Trump.

I’m just as concerned as ever that he is going to prove that he is no conservative, but at least we kept the beast out. That was job one. If he repeals Obamacare, and that’s all, I’ll be happy.
I sincerely hope I don’t have to say, “I told you so”, but his currently wavering position on obamacare, only a few days after the election, is beyond disturbing. But I went in with eyes open. It was very common for him to state one position, and then, a few days or months later state a completely different one.
This is why I have always thought, once I heard the phrase, the best description of this election was, “Electing Trump is like playing Russian Roulette. Electing Hillary is like playing Russian Roulette with a Glock.” I sincerely hope we hear a click, rather than a bang.
Time will tell.
And this is not directed at you, but I will be very disappointed in any freepers who pile onto this post with brown shirt responses. I have a right to the opinion above and facts justify it.
Well, it won’t be like we have not been fooled before. I have also wondered if Trump has seen the pure hate and bitterness of his so called friends and the trust that his new conservative friends have in him. He does have recollection of how America used to be and with a military school background, honors respect to the country. He may have figured out the left has no such respect and honor and so why not go full on conservative. We will see, and I would say many have the same opinion as you.
Yeah, I’m not taking their shiite anymore either. Winning!
