Another Liberal Mayor Pledges To Protect Illegal Immigrants From President Trump
Townhall ^ | November 14, 2016 | Cortney O'Brien

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio promised illegal immigrants living in New York City that they need not fear Donald Trump's deportations plans. He plans to resist President Trump's immigration policies at all costs, whatever that means.

Now, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is echoing De Blasio's declaration. Speaking at a press conference at the Lurie Children's Hospital on Monday, Emanuel said Chicago will "always be a sanctuary city."

"To all those who are, after Tuesday's election, very nervous and filled with anxiety as we've spoken to, you are safe in Chicago, you are secure in Chicago and you are supported in Chicago," the mayor said.

He's not kidding. Under sanctuary city status, police don't have to report illegal immigrants to U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement.

“you are safe in Chicago”

Emanuel is too big of an idiot to appreciate the irony of his statement.

I hope Trump cuts off every federal penny going to Chicago, NYC, LA, etc., etc.

My God, that statute is as clear as daylight. I had no idea that it was that clear cut. Trump has every legal basis to prosecute every one of these fools that have made that statement.

Thanks for posting.

“....in which the offense was done for the purpose of commercial advantage or private financial gain, be fined....”

You said-”My God, that statute is as clear as daylight.”

How do you prove the asylum granted illegals was for commercial or private financial gain?

It is that clear and has been so for the entire Obama, Bush and Clinton administrations - when they allowed the sanctuary city policies to spread across this country.

Trump must be different and prosecute local government officials for harboring illegal aliens!

You don’t need financial gain for the 5 year penalty under (B)(ii) only for the 10 year under (B)(I).

If Trump cuts off federal funding to these cities he will have the deficit cleared up quickly.

I think we should allow "sanctuary" cities to show the courage of their convictions, and if they are determined to defy federal law, they get to pay for the costs out of their own pockets.

Block the FBI, the INS or ICE? No federal funding for you.

You get to pay for your own welfare, roads, schools, etc.

Riots? Too bad, no Federal funds.

Flood? Too bad, buy your own pumps.

We won't need to prosecute the mayor, the citizens will take care of him and his minions.

With no federal investigation of what happened.

As a side benefit, the withheld funds could pay off the national debt.

Be not deceived.... What ever a politician sows, that will he also reap. It’s going to be a bumpy ride for these big cities who think they are exempt from Constitutional law. Batten down the hatches, the storm is coming.

At first glance one might surmise that if said crimigrants remained in kommiefornia or new york, what difference does it make? But the reality is that the more those sewers decline, the more of their native inhabitants flee to civilization. And those of us in civilization don’t like that one bit.

I guess someone didn’t get the memo that the law will now be enforced.

Good point that I didn’t catch. We all know why it was done, but drawing a straight line between those reasons and the law isn’t easily done.

They won’t last a month without federal dollars. Di Blasio will have his @ss handed to him on a platter.

The egomaniacal Mayor de Blasio doesn’t like being upstaged by any president.

I think Trump is going to find reducing the budget to be much easier when mayors are essentially volunteering to have their federals funds withheld. I am tired of me and my fellow Alabama citizens paying for bad management by New York, Chicago, and all of California.

Remember - big city mayors and governing authorities are the antithesis of everything that Trump, and conservatives, believe is right for the USA. America first?? - not for those people~
