My choice for Secretary of Education
Hillsdale College ^ | November 15, 2016 | Makana

Posted on 11/15/2016 12:59:31 PM PST by Makana

The country needs Larry Arne, the President of Hillsdale College, as Secretary of Education.

Under his leadership, the college refuses ANY federal aid. It requires all students to be literate in the US Constitution and has pioneered online courses about the Amercian governmental system to anyone at no cost.

We need government OUT of “education”, period.

The only reason we have lost our Republic is because we have allowed the government to shape the “thinking” of our children and Socrates knew 2400 years ago that when the State controls “education” it will only make the children into slaves for the State—never into truly wise, independent thinkers.

Local control returned to parents and back to true Classical Christian education—the type which created the Age of Reason and the greatest political documents in the history of mankind: The Founding Documents of the USA. All children should have to study the Federalist papers to be considered “educated” along with the Bible, so they understand Natural Law Theory (Objective Truth)-—human nature and the Laws of God.

Without educated, virtuous people, there is no possibility of a free Republic. Because of such dumb, indoctrinated snowflakes, we are loosing this Republic. The WHOLE SYSTEM was set up to destroy virtue formation in children by the Fabian Socialists starting with Horace Mann and that evil “Prussian” system of mass indoctrination-—group-think only (emotional “learning” to fear and obey the State instead of God.)

I seem to detect a certain similarity of attitude here. I hope Donald Trump shares it.

Ditch the Department of Education. At best, it is useless, at worst destructive. No possibility that it will do anything good. Dump it.

>> It says nothing about the government having any other role in promoting science and arts.

That’s only the useful arts. It doesn’t restrict the rest of them.

No need for a cabinet level Secretary if there is no longer a Department of Education

Anybody remember Al Dunlap, or "Chainsaw Al"?

He was a CEO who was known for gutting companies.

He can be Education Secretary, then Health & Human Services Secretary, then Commerce Secretary, then Energy Secretary,

Might be the right guy to start closing down the DOE

Yes, and there would be no better man to understand that than Arnn.

“Faulty premise. The DOE needs to be DOA”

Another example of why FR needs a like button.:-)

Arne would indeed deliver a great message but
I think DOE needs to be deconstructed ASAP.
the federal govt has no business having a DOE

1 minor problem, he would have to resign his college presidency. I agree with him 100% but where would his influence be the greatest??

I think the post should be left empty. Then empty out the rest of this department. Education should belong to the states and should not be “nationalized.”
