Source: Trump will not seek to prosecute Hillary Clinton

This is just coming out this morning and it’s only attributed on background to “a source” with knowledge of the transition team’s thinking, but Donald Trump is supposedly not going to pursue any prosecution of Secretary Hillary Clinton over her email transgressions or even the pay to play activities of the Clinton Global Initiative. The story popped up on MSNBC’s Morning Joe during the first hour and it immediately prompted questions as to why this would be coming out now. (To be fair, there wasn’t a rush of other folks confirming the veracity of the source.) Perhaps it’s something to do with the fact that Barack Obama is about to pardon a turkey so Trump felt a matching gesture of magnanimous generosity was called for. In any event, the show put it out on Twitter as coming directly to Joe Scarborough from the source in question.

In Congo and Argentina, laws are for the little people and are enforced on some, not others.

How can copying their behavior differentiate us?

What we can do is complete the process and follow the law That _would_ differentiate us from the Congo and Argentina.

Now, your point that we don’t want political prosecutions is well-taken. I suppose the rub is determining whether it is. From all accounts, there are people in jail for years for doing similar things _accidentally_.

So, IMO we need to follow the facts.

Okay, but which of his other promises will he deliver on?

Clinton like Nixon had minions to do their dirty work. Yet, a total of 69 people were charged with crimes; 48 people and 20 corporations pleaded guilty under Nixon, the question will be if any of Clinton's crew will be held accountable.

Secondly, this does not stop Congress from holding her accountable.

Finally, .Gov always protects their own. We shall see if Trump is different.

We will see.

Senator Sessions could become a very tough no -nonsense type of AG, after two jokes of AG’s.

I will leave it at that.

Good move.
We cannot allow winning an election to be a matter of life or death for the candidates. Otherwise, we head further towards civil war.
Aren’t Hillary!’s current followers bad enough already?

Trump has almost 100% control over it. His control of the US Dept of Justice is virtually plenary, and he absolutely has the legitimate authority to instruct DOJ to investigate thoroughly, completely, and constantly. AFTER an indictment is obtained, his authority ends.

One political party would not be prosecuting another. Nor would Clinton be prosecuted for her politics. To refuse to prosecute Clinton would be political.

DRAIN THE SWAMP.

As much as I hate to admit it, I believe that you are right. Hillary is not finished. If the little Hubbellett is able to get in Congress and there are enough fools in New York to elect her, watch Hillary, like the Phoenix , rise again.

Since their candidate lost I view this as nothing more than putting something out there to get a reaction.

Until The Donald says it himself I don’t believe any of the MSM “ source” info...

It’s simple, really. Prosecuting and jailing her would be a unnecessary self-inflicted political distraction for the foreseeable future.

Trump is a pragmatist, in business and in life. He is all about arraigning the elements necessary for successfully completing a project (whether it’s making America great again or finishing a skyscraper). That ultimately means disposing of barriers to success before ever starting.

Others have already mentioned other good reasons to let this go. Remember, the important thing is that from this point forward we restore America’s potential.

Speaking of IRS I want justice for the use of IRS as a political weapon.

I agree with you. Judicial Watch is uncovering plenty of evidence of what would constitute a conspiracy if it was anyone but the federal government doing it.

A few weeks ago, I proposed a "Accountability in Government Act". The gist of it:

  1. If a court finds misconduct by a government agency and orders them to act, or act differently, then the responsible employee(s) shall be suspended without pay for 1 year, or terminated completely and forfeit all benefits -- depending on the severity of the offense.

  2. This Act shall supersede any clause of a collective bargaining contract. In other words, there's no appeal to a review or disciplinary board that will just rule in favor of the employee.

  3. The employee's only defense is proof of a superior's contrary order. And, that proof shall invoke the consequences of this Act against the superior. Political appointees would not be exempted.

  4. Destruction or non-retention of evidence would be considered proof of misconduct. And, invoking the 5th Amendment would be grounds for immediate termination.

As a result, I think you would see a lot of employees telling their boss: "put it in writing, please". And that alone will impose a chilling effect on outlaw behavior.

Head fake to lure Obama into not pardoning Hillary. I’d prefer to see DOJ go after the CGI. As for Hillary, I’d arrange for a public confession and act of contrition in exchange for a pardon. I’d pardon Chelsea too - just to paint that stain onto her record for future reference should she decide on a career as an elected official.

I am not a fan of political prosecutions, either. However, as it stands now Bill and Hillary have deliberately broken too many laws to be ignored. At the very least an honest independent investigation needs to happen, with the results announced either through prosecution or publicity of the results.

There are two aspects of the banana republic issue - the first is political prosecution. The second is immunity of the powerful against prosecution. Both are devastating to the rule of law.

Thank you for the link, I’m just heading off to work and will have to read it later. There was a FR linked story Monday about Obama not being able to pardon for state offenses and the Clintons being vulnerable to prosecution in NY state and Arkansas where Clinton entities are headquartered. NY wasn’t seen as a viable venue due to political realities but Arkansas was a real possibility.

I think it’s important to dismantle the Clinton machine for strategic political reasons too, it remains a political asset for the Left, a source of cash, patronage jobs and a refuge while out of office, it must be exposed, de-legitamised and destroyed as a power center and political toe hold for the Clintons in the American body politic.

Being a “pragmatist” is the best built-in excuse EVER to avoid hard political choices and to break campaign promises.
