Trump won’t pursue case against Clinton, Conway says (?)
Washington Post ^ | 11/22/2016 | Jerry Markon, Paul Farhi and Karen Tumulty

President-elect Donald Trump has decided that his administration will not pursue criminal investigations related to former rival Hillary Clinton’s private email server or her family foundation, his campaign manager said Tuesday.

Trump’s apparent decison, conveyed by campaign manager Kellyanne Conway in an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,’’ would be an extraordinary break with political and legal protocol, which holds that the Attorney General and FBI makes decisions on whether to conduct investigations and file charges, free of pressure from the president.

During his campaign, Trump had issued incendiary calls for a special prosecutor to re-open the FBI’s closed investigation of Clinton’s use of a private server while Secretary of State and had also urged investigations of allegations of corruption at the Clinton Foundation. He nicknamed the Democratic nominee “Crooked Hillary” and encouraged chants of “Lock her up!” at his rallies.

You're missing what's going on! Trump is faking-out the libs. Trump isn't going to interfere with the FBI investigation of the Clinton investigation. Today, he has Conway make nice, mild statements about HRC. For the next, say, 18 months, Trump is busy running the country and never talks about HRC. Meanwhile, the FBI investigation chugs along. Out of nowhere, the FBI goes to the Justice Department with blockbuster evidence that the Clintons took bribes from foreign nations. The DOJ wants to indict HRC. This gets out to the public. All of this has nothing to do with Trump. Trump will have said nothing about HRC since becoming President. The investigation will have started before he became President. The crimes alleged will be serious. Will anyone be able to claim this was a witch hunt on Trump's part? Nope.

It’s certainly possible to be gutless on the right as well as on the left.

What makes sense, when it seems that Donald went off the edge, is to make sure we are not looking at a mirage. I’ve seen Donald seem to signal like that before lowering a boom, and it seems to me that there HAD to be more to the context. Donald seems to often be of the attitude “lets watch and see if the person hangs himself/herself NOW.”

Did you hear Trump with them?

No?

Well ok then. Maybe all of the other stuff people like you assume he “wasn’t going to do” because you heard a report or head someone say X, only to find out it isnt the case, should clue you in to actually wait for official word from Trump himself.

But naaaaaaaaaaaaaah, that’s too hard.

Sounds like it. The FBI and Justice Department follow the lead of the president.

I won't assume that Trump's statement means he would deny recommendations from those agencies. That's not what "won't seek" means.

I would be okay if “he” could seize all their assets.
Likewise, Soros.

1) Trump needs Democrat support for the Supreme Court and may need it for some of the other positions, given the RINOs on our side.

He's not going to get their support regardless.

2) Trump still hasn’t been ‘elected’ (by the Electors). It’s not over until then (and then until Congress buys off on the Electors). After that, anything he said prior can be walked back (i.e., he can still prosecute).

How many times is he going to walk things back?

3) Trump wants Hillary to run again, as she was so much fun last time.

Only an idiot would think Clinton will run again. Trump is many things but an idiot isn't one of them.

Pearl clutching? They’re freaking bedwetters.

In a more general sense, I think the left has been running high level psy ops for years to encourage this sort of behavior. We're practically brainwashed at this stage. Trump actually has managed to deprogram some of that.

Even I was suffering from it to some degree and I didn't even realize it.

The rot runs very deep, deeper than we imagined. We have a chance to break these chains, and we can't squander it with infighting over whether or not HRC goes to jail.

It’s not even a question of whether her actions deserve prosecution; he gave his word that he would investigate and prosecute, and now he’s already going back on his word.

Congress doesn’t put ANYONE in handcuffs. Did you miss civics class the day they talked about how the process is supposed to work when the Rule of Law is followed?

AG Sessions will get a request for a special prosecutor FROM Congress. The FBI can present evidence to AG sessions & ask for a special prosecutor as will, if memory serves.

But if you want to abandon ship enjoy the leap into sea of hopelessness & rage.

Yes it pretty much does.

Not that I necessarily believed him when he said so, but, yes he did indeed say during the second debate (as well as several other venues) that ‘if I win this election, I will appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Hillary.’ I much more expect he’ll mimic her actions than bring them to justice.

What?? He most certainly DID say he was going after her with a Special Prosecutor because she belongs in jail!! He said it during the debate and at damn near every rally. Good grief. At least be honest.

Ain’t so sure... this would not be the first time Donald has acted like “Let’s read the current events now, it is not personally mine.” And then he reads them, and weeps (”this is TERRIBLE!”) and acts.

She didn’t say “He will NOT pursue” it either.

This is not a quote (with the air-bunnies), frankly

“President-elect Donald Trump has decided that he won’t seek criminal investigations related to former rival Hillary Clinton’s private email server or her family foundation, his campaign manager said Tuesday.”

A pre-inaugural spokesperson is not the spokesperson of an inaugurated President, nor does it set in stone further actions based on law and recommendations from honest heads of the FBI and DoJ.

Some people here are avidly looking for reasons to abandon a President even before he takes office. I’m not one of them. I’ll have to hear the official announcement “SHE WILL NOT BE PROSECUTED” when he is President first.

If it is true and he doesn’t, then me and him have a bone to pick.

I heard CONWAY with my own ears, using words that would be weak coming from Oprah. “help her heal”???!!! Since when does she not speak for DT?

Sure, Conway might be wrong, but that’s not likely. And if she is wrong, and not fired instantly for such a stunning and false statement, I’d be shocked.

Maybe she’s wrong, and I hope she’s wrong, but I doubt it.
Time will tell, however. We shall see.

He needs to PARDON her. That way he looks merciful AND tars her forever as a pardoned felon.

I'll make an alternate suggestion:

Let the DoJ and FBI do their job, after appointing honest leadership and without political interference.

If Clinton is convicted, then commute her sentence -- if there is any penalty.

In the case of the classified emails, it's likely she'll be offered a plea to a misdemeanor charge of unlawful removal and retention of classified information. This is typical in a case like this -- because they don't have to show the information in open court to prove it is sensitive information. The usual sentence is a fine and probation.

Of course, Clinton may choose to be defiant ("laws are for little people"), but I don't think she's stupid enough to risk a prison sentence. The best she can hope for is a hung jury.

The IRS is already investigating the Clinton Foundation. That's confirmed, and not a rumor (like the alleged FBI investigation). Let them do their job, and the Foundation will likely be shut down.

And this is actually a peculiarly godly way of acting. It mirrors how, when God knew jolly well what was going on in Sodom, He still launched a fresh probe into it, sending an angel, to let the offense enter the present tense.

This way, there is NO doubt that “we have just dealt with the proven incorrigibly wicked.”

Good post! Finally some rational thinking instead of emotional venting.
