Oh, I absolutely believe that Marc Elias and Coie-Perkins is in it only to assure that it’s fair for all sides. Of course I do! Don’t we all?

The same liberals who are contributing to this scam are also the same idiots who waste their money playing the lottery every week.

She isn’t dead until garlic is covering her and a vampire stake is in her. I suggest locking the casket too.

Any recounts ordered would be done in time for the electors to vote. Hell, it only took one night to count them the first time.

I'm hardly a concern troll, but I am curious about these actions. It doesn't make sense financially--to raise this money to fund a recount that doesn't appear to turn the election.

It doesn't make sense logically--as to why Stein would selectively target only a few states that she has zero chance to win. Even if the results were overturned in each of the contested states, they wouldn't yield enough EVs to make Stein a winner, only Hillary. And that begs the question, what legal standing does Stein have to ask for a recount when she is not a party to the outcome?

Finally, it doesn't make sense politically. Trump's support has only solidified since the election--he's done a lot of things to show stability, and smoothed over many of the concerns some of his reluctant voters may have had. The idea that such an effort is only being done to whittle his EV count and undermine his Presidency will only play in a small pocket of the anti-Trump crowd, and they matter little in the grand scheme of things.

What's your take, Sam? Why are they doing this?

Thanks. I mean if people think this through, that's the whole reason there are deadlines to file for a recount. So that the recount can be done in time for the Dec 19th Electoral College vote.

It would be pointless to set a recount deadline that would not allow sufficient time to conduct a recount before the Electoral College vote!

My take on it echoes that of others.

1. Jill Stein is an attention whore but she also sees an opportunity to raise easy money for her and her party. So she has no issue (and nothing to lose) with giving false hope to disgruntled Hillary backers by mounting this doomed recall effort. Many Hillary backers have plenty of money. Put up a donation link and watch the dollars flow in! I'm sure George Soros is making sure she hits her targets but I'm sure there's plenty of suckers out there.

2. The Clinton camp sees what's happening and suddenly they want in on it. Why? As others have pointed out, the Democrats are looking ahead to the next election and they don't want it said later that they rolled over for Trump while Jill Stein fought the good fight on her own. It's also quite possible that the plan all along was to let Stein lead with this and then piggyback onto to it later so that it would not seem like they spearheaded this. I tend to believe the latter as it is the Clinton m.o. to let others do their dirty work for them.

3. Yes, this recount effort is doomed to failure but mission accomplished with regard to planting seeds of doubt that Trump won fair and square and thus saving face for Crooked Hillary - who was devastated over the unexpected loss and has a lot of explaining to do with her big-money donors who were expecting something in return.

The wild card here is President Elect Donald Trump. If they were looking to de-legitimize his presidency and turn him into an amiable non-partisan president like they did with George W. Bush, they are likely in for a rude awakening.

Al Gore did eventually concede in 2000 but not before he and the Democrats wrangled a lot of concessions out of GWB. The fact that GWB stacked his Cabinet and staff with Clinton holdovers - in an effort to achieve post-election bi-partisan harmony - attest to the fact that his presidency was effectively "de-fanged" before it even took hold.

They are not going to intimidate this President in the least.

It’s all about the chaos & anarchy. Distract the incoming admin from transition tasks. Makes sense to me when I consider the influence (partnership?) of evil on/with the Left.

Thanks, Sam. I know we’ve beaten this topic to death, but I agree with your points. I take a great amount of comfort in the belief that Trump will not kowtow to these actions. He will preside over the country as if he has a mandate to do so. He knows he won fairly, squarely and with a decisive margin. I look forward to that, and look forward to those in the Clinton and Stein camps to get their due later.

“I’m hardly a concern troll, but I am curious about these actions. “

Make that furious. This is just outrageous, a “threat to democracy: from someone who should have no standing. Hopefully, before the next election WI and other states will make any recount demand more difficult, either the person making the request has to stand a chance of winning with a reversal or they have to have solid evidence of fraud, not some whacky suspicion.

By the way, has Hillary! declared Stein’s demand a “threat to democracy?”

Exactly!

Stein tried this once before, in Ohio; didn’t help any.

She might be trying to get more votes; there’s a threshold where they get matching $ if it goes over.
