Will Washington shout down the 'voice' of Trump voters?
MSN News ^ | November 27, 2016 | JULIE BYKOWICZ

Donald Trump thundered to Americans, "I am your voice," as he accepted the Republican presidential nomination this summer.

As president, he'll find that Washington has a way of shouting back — even to the point of drowning him out.

The seat of the federal government is teeming with interest groups, corporate lobbyists and big-money super PACs. They will have some different goals than Trump and wide swaths of his voters, particularly on matters of government ethics and trade deals. There's comparatively little in place to pressure lawmakers to follow Trump's lead.

If I write “I’m 180 pounds” 5000 times, will it happen? :)

Only if you click your ruby slippers' heels together at each iteration....or, mutter, "I thinks it's true, I think it's true" under your breath while writing it.

Glad you had a good Thanksgiving - will get to the email later today or tomorrow.

How about 150-million of me, each with several loaded guns? Are we still "comparatively little?" You f___wads.

There is much rejoicing that President Trump will have a Republican House and Senate to work with. Judging from the history of the last 15 years that is not a benefit but an obstacle. I expect the Republicans to try to nullify a Trump presidency just as determinedly as the Democrats. They are not two parties except in the names and those are just designations for the primary wing and the subordinate wing of the Establishment Party.

Yep. Those EO’s were done without Congress. They can be undone the same way.

I don’t think the establishment has any idea what’s about to arrive in Washington. We’ve never been here before. Trump is used to getting things done. Previous presidents, at least in modern times, have not had the kind of dogged determination required to be a private sector billionaire of their own making. The business world operates by a different set of rules with which Washington is not familiar. I think there will be a lot of head butting and posturing, but I also expect Trump to make some headway. This is the kind of shake up the country has desperately needed to give the career politicians some push back and bring some reality back into their fantasy Beltway island.

By ignoring some laws, over enforcing others and partially enforcing even more the globalist/socialist cabal has formed a utopia that works FOR THEM.

for everyone if under Trump's presidency BOTH parties develop new leadership.

. My first reaction is - no, it's better that both parties disappear and be replaced but that is not useful. Any new party will be quickly dominated bythe same Financial corporations that dominate them now. Better for the system, so long as the government is still too large and the bureaucracy is still pushing a lot of envelopes would be some new anti big movement i.e. breaking up ALL the big corporations into smaller entities with less ability to use the Congress as a slave asset reserve. Best altogether would be to eliminate all but the original 4 federal Agencies and Departments and to break up at least the financial corporations while moving to otherwise strict laissez faire economically.

“f I write “I’m 180 pounds” 5000 times, will it happen?

The actual weight does not have to happen. It is only the perception of a foolish populous based upon being told so. The left has learned that if you say something enough, with enough drama doing it, the public is too lazy to find out if it is true. So, rather than determine its validity, they just go along with it. So, they come up with a “jazzy” word or clause, and lie. And if it catches on, they stay with it until it gets old and then they come up with something else. Called smoke and mirrors. And just like a child, you can play peek-a-boo with a child forever. They never seem to get tired of it and never seem to realize that you are behind your hands. They’re just enthralled and entertained.

They’ll try, but they weren’t very successful during the campaigns. The People outshouted the Corrupt Establishment! Viva the American People!

I remember about two years into my TBI recovery, I told my mother I was working in a small office on staten island.

I wasn’t. Still way too sick.

But it was killing her seeing me home so I made it up. (working for real now overnight on Staten Island :))

My sister knew about my scheme and after about six months she would ask me how work was going sometimes before she caught herself! :)

I guess many of us lie to ourselves to some minor degree.

Liberals do it to a horrific and dangerous degree.

Not if we instill the proper fear of God in Senate Pubbies so that they do the right thing and ditch the filibuster.

I’ve heard that if you repeat something (over which you have control) as a fact to yourself often enough, you begin to unconsciously take steps to make it so.

Trump’s 3rd favorite book is peale’s ‘the power of positive thinking’. Look where it’s taken him. You can hear it in his speeches.
