Not Again: Hillary Reportedly Eyeing Another Presidential Run
Townhall ^ | 11/29/2016 | Katie Pavlich

If you thought a devastating loss to Republican Donald Trump four weeks ago and to rival Barack Obama in 2008 was finally going to put former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton out of the political game for good, think again.

According to veteran reporter Ron Fournier, someone who has been closely covering the Clintons for years, Hillary Clinton is keeping her options open for yet another presidential run in 2020.

Third times-a-charm? Not so much.

Clinton's biggest problem going into Election Day was a lack of enthusiasm and by the time results started rolling in, it showed. Her so-called "blue-firewall" of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania was bulldozed by Trump, who took all of them in addition to Ohio. The Obama coalition failed to show up to vote for her and if she chooses to run again in 2020, they'll stay home again. Not to mention Clinton barely made it out of the 2016 democrat primary against Bernie Sanders, whose supporters stayed home or supported third party candidates.

Clinton's strategy was to run against Trump, not on her own policies or platforms. That failed. She is a representation of the past, not just for Democrats but for the entire country. The scandal plagued cloud that has followed her since her early days on the Watergate investigation never dissipated and in fact has only gotten darker as she's gained more power. The majority doesn't want that kind of corruption around anymore.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. A third Clinton run would be insanity.

I am not surprised and had already expected she would run again in 2020.

(oh but she will never be able to debate Trump and she will have to cancel the debates. Who will replace Hillary when she drops out before the election? She will probably be dead before the end of 2016. etc etc)

Yeah, right.

To run more than twice, a politician has to become a gadfly, a nuisance.

Stevenson tried again in 1960. By then he'd become a quixotic liberal crusader -- something he wasn't in 1952 -- and lost the nomination to Kennedy.

Other examples of three-time losers are Eugene McCarthy, Ron Paul, Ralph Nader, Alan Keyes, and Harold Stassen (Dennis Kucinich only ran twice but he fit the profile).

Hillary's always been an Establishment or machine candidate. She won't trade in whatever influence she has to become a three-time candidate and a joke.

Kefauver was the VP candidate in 1956. IIRC, Adlai let the convention decide so it became a contest between Estes Kefauver and a first-term senator from Massachusetts, John F. Kennedy.

All I remember of the 1956 election is seeing "I like Ike" bumper stickers and my father telling me he liked Ike. I wasn't aware that there was another candidate running.

The e-mails claimed that Chelsea was not that bright, and for in-house people to say that about the heir-apparent is a very meaningful commentary. She is slow-witted and not particularly attractive. Don’t think she is electable.
