The reason is simple: such an investigation would throw cold water on the notion that it is Trump supporters who are prone to violence and contemptuous of the democratic process. That narrative must be preserved at all costs.

I don’t consider this issue to be nitpicking. It seems obvious to me that death threats against electoral college members - threats which have been confirmed by at least one state attorney general - are a serious threat not only to the individuals involved but to the integrity of the electoral system. It is actually unbelievable and unconscionable that the US Attorney General would have a ho-hum attitude about this.

The attorney general of Georgia or South Carolina recently made a statement confirming the death threats. I also saw video of one actual elector claiming he was threatened.

Obama’s DoJ ignores attacks on GOP voters and EVs, but would be kicking down doors if it were Dems being threatened.

A new Fed law is needed where the SS treats theats to EVs same as threats to the President. Easy to do as would just be a minor amendment to existing laws.

[BTW, seems that only the alt-left is attacking GOP EVs; nary a word about “white racist” threats to Dem EVs demanding they change their votes.]

That doesn't matter. Unless threats are reported to law enforcement, I'll assume they're embellishments or outright hoaxes. I'll treat them the same as allegations made by the left to reporters and not law enforcement. Now if you can show me what the AG of Georgia or South Carolina said, I may reconsider.
