Theres been a seemingly endless line of people showing up at Trump Tower for meetings with the President Elect, providing the press pool with fodder for non-stop speculation. One of the more flamboyant figures on the guest list was Laura Ingraham, who took her turn yesterday. When word of her scheduled appearance first broke, our colleague Jim Jamitis at RedState (no fan of Trumps to be sure) noted that she had been an early supporter of Trumps so this probably wasnt much of a surprise.
The most likely bet among the prognosticating class is that Ingraham is being considered for a job as Press Secretary. As Jim reports, Laura had previously said she would consider the post, but would prefer to be helping make policy rather than just broadcasting it. Still, if there are no other seats open at the table, would she really want to replace Josh Earnest? Now that the prospect is becoming more real, some in the media seem to be hitting the panic button. (Politico, emphasis added)
If Ingraham would be more interested in policy than previous White House press secretaries, she would also be less interested in the press.
She believes that most mainstream news organizations are part of a bipartisan liberal establishment that is institutionally biased against Trump and right-wing populist movements. Throughout the campaign, she relentlessly criticized the establishment media and Republican establishment for its opposition to Trump

I LOVE IT! What a great way hasten the shift of the information reporting paradigm. Why enable an openly hostile media? Why give non-journalist-nothings some sort of elite status by giving them “White House credentials?” Why heat and cool a room at our expense? Do they also get snacks, water and other amenities on our dime while they collude in the press briefing room?
Why would she want it?
IMHO that’s a crappy job, full of nobodies who disappear from the public view after their 18-24 months are up.
She deserves far better than that.
I thought she pretty much said on Fox the other night she would serve if asked - and it would involve sacrifices for her.
AM talk radio is actually a dying business model.
Laura is still a young woman. This could open up
a lot of doors for her.
NO!
While being a staunch Trump supporter, when others were #NeverTrumpers, she could not praise Trump without continuously bringing up his faults.
This disqualifies her in my view.
She was an “I support Trump, BUT.... supporter.
She is too independent for this job, ANY job, in the Trump administration.
The press secretary has to be “He’s my guy, RIGHT or WRONG!”
She gave the best speech at the convention in support of Donald Trump
She would be wasted as Press secretary. She is far more capable than that position
Why even have a “press secretary”?
Just close down that whole “white house press briefing room”.
She would have them in tears after the first presser.
Pray for Trump
Put her on the Supreme Court.
Her professionalism and temperament is so perfect for the role.
Understand she’d have to take a financial hit to her family, but she’s perfect.
There’s others who can do the job with aplomb, Monica Crowley of course but I think the accountability aspect of holding the corporate media to facts would be such a strong suit for Laura.
Imagine her berating three of these media dweebs in person and on the phone a day. It would be totally awesome as she schools them, almost daily.
From the opening words, her demeanor to the end, she was terrific that night.
Can Laura afford the pay cut?
Just went back and watched her RNC speech again - still absolutely amazing...and I still get a few wet spots near my eyes.
Dana Perino has disappeared on The Five?
Those who saw Laura on Fox, say she would accept the job if offered think she will take it.
I thought that too, until she said she was interested and would consider this serving the country. She also admires Tony Snow - who gave up both radio and TV to serve.
What is the over & under on whether the Press gets to ride in Air Force One with Trump???
I say they get to fly commercial-—trailing behind. WAAAAAY behind.
I believe both she and Kelly Ann Conway would be wasted in a press secretary role.
Instead, Trump needs to build a shadow cabinet focused on (1) Alternate Input from official cabinet, and (2) Quick Response, (3) Perpetual Promotion of Agenda
Congratulations. in Dana Perino you found the one press sec who was able to parlay that job into something else - although I don't consider arguing with Juan Williams for 5 minutes an evening a real sweet gig.
Laura Ingraham already hosts her own show on TV - and radio - and has for years! She doesn't need Press Sec. job to give her that.
She's a highly skilled lawyer with a lot of experience and a huge national bully-pulpit. She could be on SCOTUS - and should be. Pres Secretary would be beneath her.
Agree.
