Sparrow Records and Christian recording artist Amy Grant announced Thursday the release of her new Christmas album, which becomes the 200th Christmas collection Grant has produced in her career, a record among all recording artists.
The latest offering, Greatest Hits From This Years Christmas Albums, which compiles some of the best songs from the other six Christmas albums Grant has released this year, arrived on shelves to a robust response.
Industry experts attribute the instant success of the album to a growing sense of unrest among Christians, who had not been blessed by a new Amy Grant Christmas album in almost three months.
Since Grants iconic A Christmas Album was released in 1983, she has compiled an impressive, extensive list of yuletide offerings, including bestsellers Home For Christmas, Christmas in My Backyard, My Second Best Christmas, Christmas All Year, Christmas: The Christmas Album, We Want Christmas and We Want It Now, We Bet Youll Buy Another Amy Grant Christmas Album, From Christmas to Christmas, the Latin-flavored Mi Christmas Su Christmas, and 1998s two-volume set The Amy Grant and Friends Christmas Anthology Collection Live From Tennessee.
A spokesperson for Grant says she hopes the album will produce a sense of wonder and anticipation for the release of Volume Two, due out next week.
We just abide by the standard rule that every time you play a Christmas song before Thanksgiving, a baby reindeer dies.

I think in Austria they aren’t supposed to play Silent Night until Christmas Eve.
I used to wonder why certain songs became known as "Christmas songs" when they don't seem to have anything to do with Christmas. Some have been around forever and are just a long-standing tradition, like "Sleigh Ride" and "Winter Wonderland". But some, like "My Favorite Things" don't seem to belong IMO. I think this is due to Jewish singers wanting to pad out their albums so they can leave off the songs about Christ (Neil Diamond is an exception with several overtly Christian songs on his album).
“Aba-Daba Honeymoon” is from ca. 1911 !!!
“Aba Daba Honeymoon” is from 1914.
I just can’t get into the A Cappella groups. I like it as a curiosity, kinda like a funny video of a cat or dog, but then I’m past it. I actually much more enjoy “instrument only” music more than “voice only” music. Though I like it best when they are merged together, whether it be Bing Crosby, Led Zeppelin or Beethoven’s 9th.
We found a real gem last year. Barlowgirl’s ‘Home for Christmas’. Voices like angels. Look on Amazon.
“Cant do Christmas music since a stint in retail in my 20s. Put in enough 80 hour weeks with that playing on continuous loop, and youre good for the rest of your natural lifetime.”
I had the same trauma working in a BBQ and bluegrass place one summer. Three live shows a day. It took 30 years but I can now listen to it again.
FPL - lots of good recommendations for music on the thread

It’s a nice day for a white Christmas!
I've pretty much reached my limit on Christmas music. I have 67 different versions of "Silent Night" on my computer. You may think I'm kidding, but here's proof:
zprc:~/bin :) locate -i silent | grep -i night | wc -l 67
Fortunately, the vast majority is in a separate subdirectory that I only enable in my 'jukebox' after Thanksgiving.

I had also heard that he had developed a bad drug addiction as well. He supposedly recovered from it but that could have caused marital problems.
I could believe John Rutter penned 200 sappy, insipid, yet somehow catchy Christmas anthems... but I don’t know about this.
They originally came out as '78's in the late 1940's but were re-mastered for LP's in the mid -1950's. The songs feature some well-knowns, but mostly contain traditional carols from continental Europe that go back hundreds of years in some cases.
Robert Shaw's arrangements are unmatched. There is some orchestral but much is sung acapella - as many traditional carols were.
FReegards!
Sing along with Mitch? Follow the bouncing ball? Hadn’t thought about THAT in a while. I frickin LOVED him when I was little.
Christmas is when the Jew dances around the cash register singing What a Friend We Have In Jesus.
Must like Christmas.
