Especially since we’ve seen this particularly non-credible method of perpetrator identification used multiple times in the past in these incidents.
When I hear an excuse like that I immediately suspect that a western government, or the Saudis, are behind it.

Imagine how useful the photo would be if they were looking for an Afghan woman wearing a full face burka. Cover the eyes and the only thing left is a black and grey lump.

They had a civilian who followed the guy who got out of the truck, but lost him in the crowd. The first guy they arrested fit the description given by the civilian, but he didn’t have any blood on him from the murdered guy in the passenger seat, neither was any of his trace evidence found in the truck. So they say.

Might have lost it during the fight with the driver or in the process of running down the victims.
Stupid bad guys leave their IDs at crime scenes all the time. These aren’t rocket scientists we’re dealing with here.
For the sake of analysis, let’s make the insane leap that the id depicts the truck driving terrorist.
It took the police about a day to figure out that he belongs to a “large Islamic organization and had weapons training abroad.” Presumably this same info could have been found BEFORE letting him into Germany. Andrea Merkel allowed this killer into the country, and facilitated the deaths of 12 innocent people. I am past pondering why she is still in office. Why is she not swinging from a lamppost?
