Please view the Illinois map that I posted.
The majority of Illinois state map is red.
There are many thousands of Conservatives residing in Illinois as I am, however as in most such states it is the large population centers that vote Democrat and the reason that the Left wants to eliminate the Electoral College.
Also , I am only "vile and cranky" in the mornings before having my coffee.....
Just my experience I guess but I have no plans to visit anytime soon...lol
If the inner cities and first-ring suburbs of Minneapolis-St Paul are any indication, it’s safe to say that a lot of those Illinois residents are now up here.
Murder rates are helping also.
Those leaving if they are property owners must be taking a hit on the value of the property.
Whose buying the property if there is a net loss in population?
So glad we chose to come to Michigan when we left the left coast a few years ago. I was really loving the idea of Duluth at the time and briefly considered a job offer there.
The final bad memory, when we left was having to stop every 5 miles and pay another toll.
Has IL lost any House seats over the last few decades?
Many homes cannot be sold at a fair price in Illinois and “Rental” signs are popping up in those yards where the homeowners have fled the state.
We Michiganders have a similar situation with Detroit.
A lifetime ago, I lived in a small town in Illinois. Two of my friends moved West in 2015. And two of my friends moved South in September. I am one person and know 4 people in the last year and a half who have left Illinois. The dirty Chicago politics have infiltrated downstate. They are both shocked at the property taxes in their new states. SO MUCH LOWER! Illinois is taxing it citizens out of the state. And, of course, the Lefties I do know in Illinois, blame the Republican Governor, instead of taking a look at the career politicians like the Madigans.
Is that dead? Alive? Of both dead and alive?
That's just due to the murder rate in Chicago, right?
If they added in the people moving out of state it would be way higher.
My first thought, too.
What is interesting is the breakdown:
Births: +155K
Deaths: -108K
Net international immigration: +30K
Net domestic migration: -114K
Adding up to an overall loss of 37K. Obviously, the babies won’t be of much use as taxpayers. If the international immigrants are corporate executives transferring from Europe, they might be of some value, but I rather suspect they are not.
Include Mankato, St. Cloud, Willmar, etc. in that. A few years ago there was a huge influx of inner city residents to smaller Minnesota cities.
It happened all at once and a relative of mine who works with low income families said that she and her coworkers couldn’t figure why the sudden movement from Chicago.
I’ve been binge-watching The Walking Dead.
Not much of a stretch, really.
;D
During the Carter years MI was losing population in huge numbers. They joked, Last person out of MI please turn off the lights.
Collectivism does work, prompting people to leave.
