Here is a small example or difference between a few decades ago and now.

The affordability is similar to custom cars, hot rods, etc. When we were young folks in CA, that was exclusively the realm of the young crowd, teens etc.

Those days are long gone. Most young folks today couldn't afford the tires. What I see today are these hot rods and custom cars being driven by grey haired old men in their 70s and 80s, tying to be 22 again.☺

So there ya go.

Hmmm... good to know, and explains a fair bit.

The food at those places generally isn't bad. If you're going with a group of people from work (most of whom are only there because the boss is picking up the check....) they're OK. Nothing especially good, but nothing awful either, and you generally know what to expect.

... and "O'Chilibee's Roadhouse" is going to get stolen and put in my personal lexicon. Hope that's OK. :-)

I don’t think I would ever marry again. I have little kids and they come first for me. I don’t see the point of making them live with some other guy. I like your description - a dating couple is a purer form of love. You’re there because you want to be there. Interesting.

>Millenials don’t much like just talking, desire to be on their smartphone instead.
Fast-paced ADHD video age makes talk...boring.
Male/female social positions are totally screwed up and they are confused and apprehensive.
Porn poisons many young men.
Arrogance poisons many young women.
Easy sex poisons young relationships.
Marriage is now a high financial risk for men.
IMHO

All can be solved by restoring normal patriarchal laws to the books. Put men in charge of their families again both women and men will flock to marriage.

O’Chilibee’s Roadhouse serves the useful function of a baseline “known” when you are travelling. And yes, you can freely appropriate the name. :)

I just don’t know when you would ever bring that up. “So, I notice you have a prominent Adam’s Apple. Have you ever been a man, baby?”

What exactly is the protocol now?

My nephew is an automotive engineer, and met someone through a dating site. He was not looking for serial shack-ups but instead for a wife with whom he was compatible. As an engineer he was quite specific who he was looking for. And after dating for about two or three years, they were married three months ago. She is an absolutely wonderful gal. So used properly, the dating sites can cut down on the costs of traditional “trial and error” dating.

Eating is too intimate, so you should just go home and screw instead.

Thanks, Cosmo. That’s why you’re a liberated woman’s best friend.

Engineers as a group have a well-earned reputation of being difficult mates. Either your nephew is unusually personable for an engineer, or he really lucked out and found a girl with a similar mindset or a great deal of grace and patience, lol.

Actually, for a Purdue guy, he’s pretty fun to be around. But our family has an “odd” sense of humor, almost to being our own spoken language. If she was able to put up with him, and us, for three years without bailing, she’s a keeper.

I think the USA in on the cusp of a MAJOR reset in our standard of living due to the lack of demand.

The culture is changing. There is a lack of seriousness about life, in general.

And restaurant owners keep shooting themselves in the feet by constantly retooling their menus to appeal to a younger crowd.

"Fancy" restaurants have this problem. Anything with structure or formality. The kids are so used to fast-casual, "on the go" type eating. They can't commit to reservations or decorum.

Q: How can you tell when an actuary is an extrovert?

A: He looks at your shoes instead of his own...

I have not tracked the stats regarding long term relationships resulting from on-line dating websites, so his experience may be unique.

Congratulations!

My stepmother met her second husband on one of those online dating sites.

Online dating sites, like "singles events" only work if you know yourself and what you're looking for, and you're coming with a set of rules or criteria. You are not there just to "hang out" online or make it a substitute for marriage. Basically, you are there with a purpose.
