President-elect Donald Trump will meet with Robert Kennedy Jr., a prominent vaccine skeptic, on Tuesday. According to incoming White House press secretary Sean Spicer, the two will discuss “the issues pertaining to vaccines and immunizations.”
Kennedy, the eldest son of liberal icon Sen. Robert Kennedy, was best known as an environmental advocate before increasingly devoting his time to the supposed dangers of vaccines.
Mr. Trump has repeatedly shared his belief that there is a link between vaccines and autism.
“I am totally in favor of vaccines,” Mr. Trump said in a 2015 GOP primary debate. “But I want smaller doses over a longer period of time. Same exact amount, but you take this little beautiful baby, and you pump--I mean, it looks just like it’s meant for a horse, not for a child, and we’ve had so many instances, people that work for me. ... [in which] a child, a beautiful child went to have the vaccine, and came back and a week later had a tremendous fever, got very, very sick, now is autistic.”

a few years ago my wife got a flu shot that caused soreness on her arm, under her arm and side for a long time.

I have no idea what qualifies that opinion because I haven’t followed him over the years. All I do know is that he sure looks like his dad!! Just...wow!
I too have doubts about vaccines which means I’m not convinced that they’re safe despite the idea that they CAN be helpful. I have to wonder if in some cases, the actual disease is better for a person in the long run despite the possible complications of the dangers of high fever which also goes along with vaccines. At least one of the benefits of the actual disease IS a life long immunity.
Rarely addressed is the impact on the immune system from the actual disease compared to the vaccines.
Some diseases should never be messed with such as diphtheria, tetanus, polio and smallpox. These diseases are way, way too injurious on their own. German measles in and of themselves are so light that a person might not even be aware that they ever had them. But the hell they raise on the developing baby in the womb is devastating should the mother get them.
Vaccines could possibly be a good thing, but I do think they need to be made safer. Why do they use mercury as a preservative? Surely there are other things that could be used that don’t have the dangers.
Hurrah. When I read the title I groaned thinking that I'd be siding with one of the Kennedy clan - but then I see that Trump is on the same side.
Vaccines absolutely are a good thing. One (not the only) big problems with the illegal immigration flood is that people come in who have never received immunization shots and they are bringing third world diseases into our Country that long ago were stamped out. One of Obama's legacies are the numerous cases of young American kids that were debilitated (or paralyzed or killed) by the Obama flu that came in when he deliberately flooded our Nation with many of these third world immigrants.
We need shots to prevent Polio, Measles, smallpox, etc plagues - but I agree with Trump that they should be metered out gradually to the infants - rather than pumping them full of these shots at one time.
Also I have a big 'meh' on the Flu shots that the Government and Media talking heads always try to scare people into taking. If you have respiratory problems - they are probably a good idea. If not - I'll pass.
Trumps must have a high threshold of pain. I would rather have my teeth pulled out than sit down and talk to RFK, Jr.
On the other hand, Trump had experience with a alcohol sodden brother. Maybe Trump is showing pity to a mentally impaired drug addict by being nice to him.

i am mostly anti-vaccine... i stopped the vaccines for my son when he was two... he would always become very ill after being vaccinated... high fevers, blisters, running nose... he caught up on his vaccines when he turned 16...
I am thrilled trump is looking at this. The corruption in the vaccine division of the CDC is legendary. There is NO liability on vaccines. There is NO accountability st the CDC. There are NO gold standard, placebo studies on ANY vaccine. The CDC profits handsomely from vaccines. The vaccine industry has absolute control over the vaccine division of the CDC.
Robert Kennedy, Jr. has a documentary called Trace Amounts covering the scandal of this industry and the corruption. That is why he is meeting with Trump.
The swamp needs DRAINED in this industry. Until there is integrity, liability and transparency for vaccines, they should be viewed with the most cynical eye possible.
She had gotten all the vaccines that I thought she needed. Problem (if you could call it that) was that my youngest child was an incrediably healthy kid (still is as an adult). So, I wasn't bringing her in for flu or bad colds or anything like that. She just didn't get sick.
So, I ended up having to bring her back several times to get the shots she needed and I ended up being quite surprised at the number of shots that are given to young babies. And, in a short period of time.
So, I don't know if they test these vaccines together to see if there is any interaction between them. Or, if giving these many shots to an infant is actually not a good idea. I just don't know; but, I'm not going to get on people who might question it.
You should be happy that you and your family were vaccinated without incident, not snarky.
I shifted my thinking on vaccines after watching Rick Perry (a.k.a. the Man from Merck) take what was clearly a payoff to place Gardisil on the list of Texas-mandated vaccines.
IMO only a handful of those shots are needed to stave-off deadly epidemics. The vast majority are on mandatory lists for school not because medical science agrees they are needed, but because some pharma company PAID to put them there.
David Kennedy did not die from smack. He died from cocaine. Robert F. Kennedy Jr almost died from smack (heroin) while on an airplane. You have got your Kennedy’s mixed up. I know, it’s hard to tell once drug addicted Kennedy scum bag from another drug addicted Kennedy scum bag.
