First wrongful assumption was “assume it will be peaceful”. The sentiments of neo-confederates here notwithstanding, it’s been established that you attempt to secede, you die, followed by military occupation until the survivors see the light.

The economic reasons against CA being an independent country are stupid. CA has enough resources to make a viable country of 40,000,000. If Uganda can be a country then so can CA. All it takes is political will.

I am for CA seceding because the political benefit to the other 49 state would be enormous.

I googled the population the 13 colonies in 1776 = 2.5 million. With today's technology I'd say it would take about a week to switch form state to country. Maybe less.

If the USA invades CA you WILL have revolt in the other 49 states. How may kids have to die to keep state IN the Union? Are you some kind of fascist?

The left needs to embrace States Rights and a much smaller Federal Government then there would be no need of secession talk.

I disagree they will try.

If the referendum fails they’ll resort to terrorism.

I think if they are allowed to leave it should be with a proviso that anyone who takes Califagicate citizenship can NEVER regain US citizenship. If they leave neither they or the state can ever come back.

An independent country of CA, with a doormat out welcoming illegals, would suck the illegal population out of the other 49 states like a vacuum. Another huge benefit.

We're gonna need a bigger wall.

If they secede, they will become a brutal police state with their own equivalent of the Berlin wall, say California wall to keep anyone from leaving CA alive.

While California has the resources to be a thriving country, the chances of Sacramento actually using those resources properly to build the economy are nil. The chances are greater that they will actively prevent the use of their resources. They will pass an extreme agenda without any thought of the consequences and expect wonderful things to happen.

California is gone. Might as well call it North Mexico.

I couldn’t care less what happens inside CA after they become independent.

I couldn’t care less about what the country of CA does or doesn’t do. Nor should anyone.

They will begin us for what we own, so be concerned. Plus what is to stop them from easily invading the other states?

Yeah, but won’t any attempts to defend ourselves be blocked by the treasonous Congress? They still New York and other populated states under their control.

California should be permitted to secede peacefully if they so choose. It would be nice to reverse the precedent from 156 years ago, plus secession is a fundamental natural right. [And I want the new precedent in case a Hillary clone takes power next.]

Not really. If CA goes, I do believe North CA will become like West VA did. So So Cal is all that will need to be cordoned off.

It’ll never happen. Once it’s explained to the left in California that leaving the US means that they will NEVER be able to rule over Texans and other Deplorables, they will cease their effort.

What they want is RAW POWER over us, to ‘re-educate’ us to their way of thinking, and to have the option to take further steps (as Stalin, Mao, and others did) if we fight back. Thus far, they got to the re-educate step, and were preparing for the more physical steps, but Trump got in their way. Hopefully they’ll be reset back to the starting point (or jailed) by the time this is all over.

...and feel free not to believe their intentions, millions of others didn’t in the past, which made getting them into the labor camps all that much easier.
