One of Trump’s Republican detractors is said to have paid the company
Initially FusionGPS was asked to look into Trump's business dealings
But the research angle changed after DNC hacking emerged in June 2016
FusionGPS then contracted ex-MI6 officer Chris Steele's Orbis company
Steele had gold-plated contacts in Moscow from years of spying on Russia
Democrats took over funding the investigation into Trump
Former Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush has been forced to deny a claim that he ordered the outlandish ‘dirty dossier’ on President-elect Donald Trump.
The BBC initially named Bush, one of Trump’s opponent in the 2016 Republican primary, as having enlisted the services of Washington-based political research firm FusionGPS to look into Trump's business dealings.
FusionGPS later hired ex-MI6 spy Christopher Steele to dig further into Trump’s connections with Russia.
‘He (Steele) was compiling this report on behalf of initially Trump's opponent Jeb Bush,’ the BBC said on Wednesday.
The BBC subsequently said on Thursday its Washington correspondent Paul Wood misspoke. Bush's spokeswoman, Kristy Campbell, categorically denied any involvement between Bush and Steele. ‘It is absolutely not true that Governor Bush had any knowledge or involvement with this gentleman and his allegations,’ Campbell told Reuters by phone
‘It's nothing we've ever seen before.’
However, Bush’s camp have not specifically ruled out any contact with FusionGPS.

These memos are garbage.
What competent former MI6 agent would give sensational information like this to a political opponent that included sourcing and a trail back to him?
If he had enough brains to be trusted, he would never have put something like that in a memo that would likely fall in the wrong hands.
The claim that he gave it to HRC campaign and FBI last fall is completely suspect. HRC would have used it to follow up the recording if she thought she could get away with it.
the age old question: who benefits from such a dossier?
For me, this falls well and deeply enough into my own “conformation bias” pit that I have to question it.
Add to that this. The BBC? Less credible than CNN. BBC is the same org that protected Jimmy Saville and refused to cover the massive pedo/sex slave ring run by Mohmads in Rotherham.
Personally, I’m at the point where I default to No Trust in any ‘news’ put out by any MSM outfit on any issue.
I do hope it turns out Jeb was neck deep in this stuff, though.
