Thanks for the heads-up.
It’s winter.
I thought Spring was coming!
I have a 4WD SUV but I hate driving around here in the winter weather because of the OTHER guy. Too many people either don't have the proper vehicle and/or tires for it and too many people that do just go too damn fast. I've had some close calls over the years because some jerk, thinking he's invincible in his 4WD, tailgates others and does other incredibly stupid things, resulting in OTHER people suffering the consequences.
You are literally taking your life in your hands driving in heavy snow or ice and no matter how prepared you may be, you are at the mercy of others.
The hell you say ???.....:o)
Agree on the threat of the “other guy”.... I stay home when it happens but if friends or family need help I have to be able to travel in almost any weather .
I’ve got one of my old 4x4 trucks that’s sole purpose each year is snow and is “winterized”....
Locking differential
Studded snow tires
Military grade tire chains
-40 rated coolant and windshield washer fluid
Three each, 3 inch x 30 foot recovery straps
Auxiliary bed tank for 100 spare gallons of fuel and added weight
Rigid pencil beam driving lights and wide beam fog lights
Heated mirrors
snow shovel
Mat Traxx snow ladders
A sleeping bag rated to -40 degrees
a yeti cooler with water and snacks (temperate storage)
Same winter storm rig I’ve used each year ..... storms or not, that truck is backed into my garage , driven maybe twice a week year round regardless to keep it in good working order.
We've had snow on the ground and snowfall since before Thanksgiving.
Here is southern Maryland we are going to get rain from this one ... nothing to shovel lol ...
Yipes! I looked at the weather for Pike County, PA this morning and they said “wintry mix” little accumulation. Thanks for the head’s up.
Thanks for the ping.
Funny thing is, as I was out, I noticed that it was sprinkling, the first drops were hitting the windshield.
I checked the clock. Exactly 1PM.
I had to laugh.
But so far, nothing more than that.
And yes, it could be a lot worse with the snow if the system slows a little and the colder air is able to move in before it starts precipitating much.
It felt like it this weekend.
But it’s about two months away.
Of course, here in CNY we have to wait until Mother;’s Day passes before we’re sure of not getting any more snow.
We’ve already had snow on several Mother’s Days here in the not too distant past.
Just another reason to get out of NYS ASAP.
Same here in NYS.
And it seems to be getting worse over the years.
Mississippi as well metmom.
