WASHINGTON (AP) – The top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee will request a delay on the confirmation vote on President Donald Trump’s nominee for attorney general. That will push the panel vote until Jan. 31.
The Judiciary panel is scheduled to vote Tuesday on Sen. Jeff Sessions’ nomination. But committee rules allow any member of the panel to hold a vote over until the next week, and members of both parties frequently do. A spokesman for California Sen. Dianne Feinstein said Monday that she will request the extra week “to give the committee more time to conduct its due diligence.”
At Sessions’ hearing earlier this month, Senate Judiciary Chairman Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, said he looked forward to “moving to his appointment without delay.”
Well, I wrote to Senator Feinstein today strongly opposing this delay. Of course it wont help, but its one voice.
Since the rules say it is permissible, I don’t see how they can stop it without changing the rules. Grassley should say, sure we can do that, but before we do that, we will have a vote to change the rule related to Cabinet heads from one week to two days.

I presume the Committee has a vote on this extension.
They could decide it’s not worth the fight to wait one more week. I suspect Mr. Trump would say it’s not worth giving in, not one iota. The tweets will be flying.
People in KY won’t say what information they are withholding from us who don’t agree with their primary choice.
There are other ways to made Dems pay for Feinswine’s insolence.

The Rats desperately hoping to find some dirt to sink him. McConnell should use his yrs. of experience and know how to force a vote. The good old days of the gentlemen of the Senate are dead and long gone.
After 1 day in office, Dems see the whirlwind that is DjT and are certainly freaking. Slow him, stop him, do something to stop the psunami that’s washing over them ....ON DAY ONE !!!! For God’s sakes...there won’t be a democratic party after 2-3 months of this.
They should delay it until 7AM eastern time on Tuesday.
After the vote and swearing in, Sessions should announce a special prosecutor to go after crimes of the Democrat party, especially Reid, Schumer, Pelosi et al.
They really need him confirmed asap. It’s wrong to hold him up - disloyal!
