A formative experience in my youth was in 1989 when I was walking to the University of Michigan computer lab from my dorm. I vaguely knew there was an important basketball game going on. Then I saw students swinging from stoplights, smashing cars, turning over cars, breaking shop windows, etc. Turns out Michigan had WON the national championship. So apparently this destruction was from Joy? But the shock didn’t stop there. I saw the police lined up along the side just watching and doing absolutely nothing. I assume this was their orders, perhaps to do nothing unless physical harm was being done, nothing for property damage? These were all the wealthy, mostly white students doing the rioting. Then a young black man in dreadlocks started yelling at the cops, saying “Why aren’t you doing anything? How can you just stand there? Then they arrested the black guy, presumably for obstructing the police officer or whatever it’s called. I watched the black guy get put into the back of a police car, while the white kids continue their destruction. I’m not trying to be anti-police here . Looking back on it later, I realize they must have just been following orders.
And they won't be 'gotcha' questions, but quality questions asking for in depth information about the progress and accomplishments of the administration.
I hope this continues as other journalists take the white house press pool to school.

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee meets to vote on Scott Pruitt’s nomination to head the Environmental Protection Agency. This vote was delayed after Committee Democrats boycotted yesterday’s meeting.
We remember that the Dems passed this with zero input from Republicans.
