The invention of the cotton gin increased the amount of cotton that could processed thus increasing the number of slaves needed to pick it.

A hundred years later technological advancement of machinery decreased the need for people to pick it thus throwing blacks and poor whites out of work.

Then came the industrial boom of factories up north so they all moved.

Then came the global economy and once more people were thrown out of work when jobs were moved overseas.

But nothing came along to correct that problem. Now the globalists bring workers from overseas instead of hiring American.

They skipped a step. It won’t be long until there are no customers to buy the product then everyone is out of work.

The one common denominator is greed.

When the Democrats talk about immigration, they say that our education system is broken and our kids are untrainable idiots.

When Democrats talk about education, our kids are are all geniuses.

Which is it Democrats?

This shows very clearly that the tech firms either don’t understand, or don’t want to understand, what Trump’s temporary halt on immigration from specific countries is about.

It is only a temporary moratorium on immigration from countries which the Obama administration identified as the most dangerous and most likely to include terrorists. The moratorium is simply to allow time to implement procedures to properly vet the incoming refugees. It has nothing whatsoever with the tech firm’s ability to hire foreign workers, it is only temporary.

H-1b workers are by definition premium employees, ones that are soooo skilled that no American can be found to fill that position.

As such, employers should be willing, nay, eager to pay a premium salary for these critical skills.

Make it a legal requirement that these guest workers who bring crucial skills to America be fairly paid, say at least a 25% premium over the prevailing wage a less skilled American would receive for doing the same job.

It's only fair!

I don’t think you’ll see ‘em burned at the stake.

However, do I think it’s possible you could see an act of violence on one of these valley titans by a displaced engineer with nothing left to lose.

Doubling down against the President is not a good idea. I hope these primadonnas from Silicon Valley learn their lesson soon.

The whole premise is crap. H1B is a mechanism for artificially pushing down the pay for technical types. So you have ‘managers’ making $500k a year, who are all too frequently incompetent frauds with degrees, who don’t want to pay the market rate for technical help. Well screw them.

The whole point is that wages need to rise to a point that people flock into the field and supply / demand reaches an equilibrium. Weren’t tech jobs supposed to be the shining beacon of the future?

Stop importing cheap labor. Stop screwing American workers. There is no such thing as a position that requires skills that American’s do not possess.

Ya THINK??!??!

But framing the debate in those terms will be met with a bland, 'but-but-but the H-1B law requires they be paid the prevailing wage...'

You will lose that argument every single time.

Frame the debate in terms of fairness to foreigners, not unfairness to Amero-scum. The leftist "progressives" think that hard working, tax paying Americans deserve every hardship!

Maybe even calling the new law "minimum wages for H-1Bs"

Steal their language, "a fair minimum wage for immigrants", God knows they've stolen some much of our language!

Make them come out against a minimum wage!

Make the speak out against fairness!

Phony. I don’t think they were hiring many IT geeks from Sudan.

I also will attest that H1B visas have been over-used. With half the country out of work, our immigration levels should be near zero.

What is wrong with American workers? Is it that they are not being well educated?

Exactly so. Disney is one of the biggest offenders of the H1B Visa abusers.
The H1B Visa was supposed to be for technical professionals that we didn’t have or had in short supply.
But companies like Disney, Microsoft and practically ALL the Silicon Valley consortium have abused the system to fire Americans and hire foreigners at half or less the salary that the Americans had. That is UN-AMERICAN TO THE MAX. They ought to be ashamed, and shamed in public by Trump called out by name!.............

They’ve wrecked the education system, and now they complain they need foreign workers because they can’t get well educated, qualified American applicants for their hi tech jobs.
