Following Sen. Jeff Sessions' confirmation in which Democrats derided him as racist, Sen. Ted Cruz appeared on Fox News to state some truth: the "Klan was founded by a great many Democrats."
"The Democrats are the party of the Ku Klux Klan," he said on Wednesday. “You look at the most racist. You look at the Dixiecrats; they were Democrats who imposed segregation, imposed Jim Crow laws, who founded the Klan. The Klan was founded by a great many Democrats. Now, the Democrats just accuse anyone they disagree with of being a racist”
An article in Town Hall recently put this very clear historical fact into full perspective:
Indeed, the closer one looks across the arc of black history, the more ironic it seems that voters would associate civil rights with the Democratic Party. Founded as the anti-slavery party, the Republican Party was responsible for winning passage of the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments, the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871, the Reconstruction Acts, and the 1866, 1875, 1957 and 1960 Civil Rights Acts. In fact, had Democrats not overturned the 1875 Civil Rights Act, the strikingly similar 1964 Civil Rights Act might never have been necessary.
Breitbart dutifully noted that "it is no coincidence that more than a hundred years of history are missing from the Democratic party’s official website."
Not that skeletons in one's closet should be the deciding factor in any argument. Every political party has them. Cruz merely points out the irony of the Democrats crying racist on their opponents when history shows they were once upon a time (and still are) harbingers of racism.
Their policy of judging everyone by color and implementing affirmative action programs which are based on assuming people with darker skin have lesser ability and can't succeed without government assistance is in itself the epitome of modern day racism.
Conservatives have been pushing the “Democrats are the real racists” line for decades. It’s a fine way to point out hypocrisy, or correct the historical record. What it doesn’t do is win black votes for the GOP. Blacks and Hispanics are going to overwhelmingly vote Democrat. Period.
Keep going, Mr (Canadian born—ineligible for POTUS) Ted.
Which party has crammed so many Blacks into the welfare cesspools of the biggest cities and turned so many into illiterate (public schools, anyone?) GIMMIEDATS??

The Democrats haven’t been this mad at Republicans since we freed their slaves.
The Democrats just insist (with some justification) that the Dixiecrats all became Republicans in the Sixties because they couldn’t stand the civil rights movement. This line of argument against them is ineffective. Better to talk about the actual results of the Great Society, and the immense damage done to Black America by the welfare state and its adherents.
“Look at what racist democrats have done. Yesterday we witnessed demonstrators and students at a Detroit school with a 23% graduation rate stop Sec. of Education Betsy Devos from entering the campus.”
This school should be closed and a new one with competent people to replace them. This is crazy.

Democrats are the KKK. Democrats took blacks from the plantation to the ghetto.
Then the Democrat Party took in slaves, many of the Plantation owners had babies by their slave women...then when the Republican Party took away the slaves, the Democrat Party moved what was left to the ‘inter cities’ on the plantations there and only pay attention to them when they need their votes, or protests or riots...
Then the Democrat Party formed the KKK to hang and/or burn any Black Person that got out of line of the Democrat Party...
There is a very defiant mental health problem with the Democrat Party...if you watch them and listen to what they say, they are telling you what they are...rules are not for them but they are for us...they think they are better than anyone else...
If you look at Chuck Schumer, Elizabeth Warren, Hillary and Bill Clinton, the Podestas, the Obamas, and read about who they have and are associating with, you soon see the real people they are...very mentally unbalanced...
I despise the racists in the party of SLAVERY, JIM CROW and AFFIRMATIVE ACTION.

Strange reaction that Dixiecrats, betrayed by Democrats who together with Republicans pushed the civil rights issues, Republicans being necessary, would then suddenly “become Republicans”. Something always doesn’t quite make sense about this whole switcheroo.
It is no coincidence that more than a hundred years of history are missing from the Democratic party.
MSM at it’s finest and they wonder why nobody trusts them.
The whole “KKK” joined the Republicans argument is totally nonsensical. Since Republicans were ALWAYS the party promoting civil rights, why would so-called “Dixiecrats” join them?
