Trump could shut off refugee spigot without executive order
WND ^ | Feb 12, 2017

(Snip) Trump has already partially exercised this option in his first executive order when he lowered the annual ceiling from 110,000 refugees set by Obama to 50,000. Interestingly, this was the one part of his executive order that was not struck down by the lawsuits filed in Washington state and Minnesota.

There have already been 34,225 refugees enter the U.S. in fiscal 2017, meaning about 16,000 more are allowed to enter between now and Oct. 1. The vast majority of them, 77 percent, are coming from four of the seven countries listed in Trump’s executive order – Syria, Somalia, Iraq and Sudan.

By cutting the ceiling to 35,000, Trump would effectively end refugee resettlement for the rest of the fiscal year extending over the next seven and a half months. That would allow his administration to decide on a better vetting system and determine how high to set the ceiling for fiscal 2018.

Because they don’t even know it yet, but Trump screwed them again already.
He put out an executive order, and fulfilled his promise to us. The left shot it down in the 9th. Trump accepted their ruling.

Meaning???
Trump can stop immigration 1000 other ways. He can process 4 applications a week. He can have one slow person review each one...etc. Meanwhile, if ANYTHING happens it will fall squarely on the court.

The court is already freaking out and wanting to rehear it though Trump didn’t request any further review.

He’s playing 3d chess and they are checkers players. Just watch.

I think because they never intended to stop ALL immigration, just a prudent pause for better vetting to prevent the bad guys from coming through an open door. The US still welcomes immigrants who really want the opportunity to live the American Dream, and truly believe in the American values of “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness”…

Trump needs to cut the number immediately so it stop all refugees entering the USA.

I agree. Today's Terrorism has decidedly involved those Muslims' 2nd Generation.

(Whether they'd been admitted or "overstayed visas").

Coulda Woulda Shoulda.........

And the American People go about their every day life UNPROTECTED by the FERAL Government.

There was never going to be a shutdown of Islamic Terrorists into our Country. Only flapping gums about doing it to get elected.

Same crap about prosecuting the Queen of Queens, Hillary Clinton in murdering of 4 of our bravest in Benghazi.

Promises that were taken away after elected because deals have to be struck by the deal maker.

Glad I kept Ol Betsy lightly oiled and fresh dry powder ready for Her and tuned up ready to go in a minute. Looks like I may be needing Her yet.

I agree that they simply change vetting rules and immigration quotas, but part of me also thinks they need to shove this ruling down the throat of the 9th circuit. They should wait until Gorsuch is confirmed, and then they should appeal to Scotus.

I have read in multiple places that the executive order was primarily issued as a political statement to both Trump’s supporters and to his enemies. There was nothing in the order that he could not enforce in other ways.

I’m thinking it might be dangerous to allow Robart’s and the 9th circuit’s dangerous precedents to stand. They need to be ruled against.

This is a thread I hope that trump or one of his advisors see.

this may in fact be a much better solution. Just cut the refugee flow to almost nothing.

You are correct to a degree. Bush brought in many of the people who helped us. I'm sure you are aware that in Iraq and Afghan, those that helped us were often in danger and when found out fled for their lives. It is the proper and humane thing to do.

That is true in every war. In the 70s, we brought many South Vietnamese who helped us and again it was the humane and proper thing to do.

We should never had let in a single Iraqi. How naive are you? Don’t you realize they only collaborate with the invaders for money and to have an excuse to immigrate as “refugees.” I don’t give a damn about what people like you think is proper. Cold War nonsense like this is killing us. You don’t understand what a nation is.

Let’s all remember that the Boston bombers and Orlando shooter were in America as the kind of “refugees” that Dave W wants to let in because they were helping some imperialist adventure abroad.

Actually, I think it’s worth mentioning that the Ruling Class, thinks that bringing in these groups of people who are going to be very dependent on Government, gives them additional power and control.

These groups are also more likely to go along with their grand Global Government schemes. In short a subversive program to undermine and change American culture.

Why can’t Trump simply instruct HIS State Dept. staff overseas - no more visas.

simple.

My! You sure are on your hunting ground, aren't you? You can rant all you want, but this country has always brought in people who have helped us. Otherwise, they would be killed/executed or just plain disappear after we are gone. A good people/nation helps those who help us.

And guess what? There is nothing you can do about it.

The Boston bombers and the Orlando shooter were not in this country because they were on the front lines helping us fight the war in Iraq or Afghanistan. The Boston bombers dad was admitted as a refugee from Russia. That has nothing to do with Iraq or Afghanistan. The boys were young when brought over and I think, the Orlando shooter was born in the US, but his parents were Afghan. Which means that the Orlando shooter was not here because his parents helped the US when we were fighting in Afghanistan.

I am referring to those people who were translators or informants. Those are the people we should help when we leave. We put their lives in danger and we do owe them something.

So, neither the Boston bombers or the Orlando shooter were over here because they helped or their parents helped us fight the war.

I am all for closing the border. In fact, I am in favor of cutting back legal immigration to almost nothing. The chain migration needs to stop, as well, as anchor babies.

Big Stick. It works well.

Especially if you keep your head down and follow thru.
