French President Fires Back At Trump Over Paris Comments

One day after president Trump remarked in a speech at a conference that a friend thought "Paris is no longer Paris" after attacks by Islamist militants, French President Francois Hollande fired back at Donald Trump on Saturday. During a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday, Trump repeated his criticism of Europe's handling of attacks by Islamist militants saying a friend "Jim" no longer wanted to take his family to Paris.

Hollande said Trump should show support for U.S. allies. "There is terrorism and we must fight it together. I think that it is never good to show the smallest defiance toward an allied country. I wouldn't do it with the United States and I'm urging the U.S. president not to do it with France," Hollande said.

"I won't make comparisons but here, people don't have access to guns. Here, you don't have people with guns opening fire on the crowd simply for the satisfaction of causing drama and tragedy," Hollande said, responding to questions during a visit at the Paris Agric fair.

They may not have access to guns, but they have access to trucks which they then use to murder dozens of innocent bystanders in increasingly more frequent terrorist incidents, meanwhile the lack of guns prevents the local population from defending itself when one or more terrorists - who have access not only to guns but also explosives - use these to attack and murder members of the defenseless French population.

Oh yes, "here" the French people have also been living under what has effectively become a permanent state of emergency ever since the November 2015 Bataclan mass murder.

In fact, more than 230 people have died in a series of assaults in France since the beginning of 2015, and the country has been under a state of emergency rules since November the same year. Trump's comments also drew a rebuke from the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo.

Meanwhile, another attack has taken place in the German town of Heidelberg, where as reported moments ago a knife-yielding man drove his car into a pedestrian area, injuring three, and was later shot by the local police.

Oh, my, Entropy12...don't get me started....I would give my right arm for a Portillo's magnificent Chicago-style hot dog with everything - including the celery seed.....or one of their incomparable Italian Beef sandwiches (to die for)...or to dine tonight at the peerless Bohemian Crystal Restaurant in Downers Grove (roast pork, delicious dumplings, boats of steaming hot pork gravy, sauerkraut, real crusty Bohemian rye bread...and homemade kolaky or apple strudel).

Nothing here in my area of Florida even comes close, sigh.

As usual, the press censors the tragedy caused by the Muslim animals.

Oh yes, Italian beef smothered with hot peppers...actually every item at Portillo’s is oh so good. Every time I visit Phoenix, I never fail to drive down to Scottsdale and dine at Portillo’s there. It is as good as the Chicago joints, larger and organized well for fast service.

If you ever visit St Augustine, be sure to try Pizza Time on St George street. Only problem is they only take cash, and I am now part of the cashless society. So have to visit the bank first. Another favorite is Prohibition Kitchen, also on St George street.

The richest country in world, based on number of millionaires / population is Singapore. Every 6th citizen of Singapore is a millionaire. Guess what is the ethnic mix in Singapore? Chinese, Indians and Arabs make up 97% of population, with the British making up the rest. Goes to show you how intelligent capitalism works regardless where or by which ethnics.

Right....Canadian French is a bastardization of the pure Parisian French.

I learned the latter....and found it impossible to converse w/ Canadians in French.

I have traveled to 36+ countries (lost exact count) on 4 continent. In Singapore I felt the safest exploring the big city in late evenings. Drug dealers get death sentence by law. So there are no addicts looking to rob people on the street.

In my opinion the real secret behind their prosperity is complete lack of welfare to able bodied people of working age. There is no unemployment compensation, no food stamps, no free stuff. Unemployment is virtually non-existent. The tour guide explained to us, only people without jobs are those between switching jobs. As she said, if you do not work, you may not eat in Singapore.

I was very impressed particularly by their infra-structure. Airport, cruise terminal, underground highways, hospitals, etc are world class. Not to mention the great ethnic food.

Yes, people in Quebec and France both speak with that delightful French accent. With one difference, the people I came across in Montreal were fluent in English as well. In France, they avoid English like a plague. But the French Riviera is so great.
