Is February 28, 2017, 'The Night the Democratic Party Died'?
PJmedia.com ^ | February 28, 2017 | Roger L. Simon

I was once a Democrat. In those days, I thought I was on the team of truth, justice, and the American way. It was fun to be a Democrat then. But... Bye, bye Miss American Pie. Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry. I woke up.

I'm no longer a Democrat (it's been many years now), and though on the rarest of occasions I worried I'd made a mistake, Tuesday night watching the shell-shocked faces of the Democrats on the floor of Congress while Donald Trump delivered his magnificent speech, I knew I had made no error. I even wondered what was going on in my head in those isolated moments I doubted myself.

The Democratic Party members watching that speech looked like a party of the living dead. They didn't know how to react. They didn't know if they were Americans. They didn't know who they were.

Every time Trump called for bipartisanship for the good of our country, they winced. They couldn't stand it and didn't know how to react because they are the least bipartisan people in the world and they scarcely know what cooperating is. Working together is not in their natures. Yes, they talk about it endlessly but they never do it. (See: the history of the Soviet Union) Maybe it's not in their DNA. (I should check mine.)

No worries... the party will still be voting for many more years.

It was a sad display of group think. There is no room for individuality in the Dem party. You must feel, think, look, and act as one. Pathetic and ignorant. The white (racists!) outfits worn by the femdems were prime example #1.

I enjoyed watching Pelosi squirm in her seat.

Her expression made it clear that she couldn’t figure a way to counter the enthusiasm for Trump.

“I was once a Democrat.”

I remember sitting on the carpet in front of our 17-inch black and white TV, 9 yrs old, and listening to some demonrat deliver a speech at the 1960 convention. I was taken in by it, and turned to ask Maw if that wasn’t just the best thing that had ever happened.

She just looked at me with an expression that said, “Oh, you poor, stupid, little moron. Are you really the prawn of my loins?”

“Listen up, dummy,” she explained. “Everything he just said is either a lie or a fantasy.” I didn’t get it at the time.

I was pretty busy through Nixon, Ford, and Carter, but when bread jumped 300% and jobs disappeared, I started to pay attention. Then (cue Heavenly Chorus) came Ronaldus Magnus.

You got That Right Brother. Seriously, I get concerned. As the saying goes, a day is eternity in politics. And just like the non-issue of Kellyanne and the couch...the Dems will throw everything they have at the wall, everyday for the next four years, hoping something will stick.

AND the Democrats--in their stupidity, in my opinion!--chose to have all the female members of Congress wear all white. Oops--isn't that the color of the Ku Klux Klan? (shaking head) You'd think they would have them all dress in purple, the "de facto" color of opposition to the Trump Administration.

Exactly. Remember 2006-2009? "Republican party is dead. This is the end. Etc"

So long as the country is in a two-party system, it benefits greatest from two strong, well-balanced parties. The massive swings of the past decade aren't good at a national level. Obama's swing to the far left in 2009 was catastrophic for the country. Trump's swing in 2017 - while positive in the short run to help undo some of the damage done by his predecessors - will be equally catastrophic if allowed to continue unchecked. Politicians *always* overreach, sure as the sun will come up, and all of the paeans being sung on FR about Trump's administration will be much quieter, come 2022 or so.

'Tis why I like Pence, so far. Calm, professional, and conservative. We're in the middle of a hurricane right now, and while Trump is a good man to get us through it, we'll need someone like Pence to take the wheel when it's over and maintain the gains made by Trump's administration.

Never get over confident. The dims and many other forces are arrayed against President Trump. He has Herculean tasks ahead of him. Events beyond his or our control can derail the best of plans. Note what the opposition lacks and use it for attack but never get over confident.

>>Don’t get too confident. We have a long, long way to go.<<

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

That’s right.

Trump has given dozens of great speeches. This one perhaps had a larger audience than most.

The way I see it, Trump supporters are never going away (as long as he stays true to his core positions). That means HIS SUPPORT CAN ONLY GROW.

That’s what we saw through the entire election, and it is continuing. Even if 1% of the people outside the Trump train converted last night, over time, and many speeches, and many WINS, and many PROMISES KEPT ... this will be HUUGE.

Trump was on TV yesterday morning, I think, saying that we are headed to a one-party politic (because of the disintegration of the Dims).

Just a little increase in his support, every day, every week, will accomplish this.

Think of the possibilities: the blacks figure it out; the Jews figure it out; most of the rest of the white middle class figures it out ...

And yes, it was a GREAT speech.

“Never get over confident.”

True. No matter how things shake out with their policies and ideology, never forget that they’re eternally researching new and better ways to cheat.

Stake though there may have been, but the Undead can and do still reanimate and rise, to stalk our nightmares, and sometimes, they even make daytime appearances.

Perhaps they lie in their coffins, staring at the blackness, awaiting the day when they are once more unearthed.

Even decades or centuries later. Hell, don’t you watch the SyFy channel?

Exactly. They're not dead, just old and sickly.

And if the democrat party does die something else, probably worse, will take its place.

February 28, 2017 were...

1) My 60th birthday.

2) The first night of Mardi Gras so I had two good reasons to go out and party.

3) What? Trump made a speech? Okay, I’ll catch it on YouTube. It is nice to wake up and hear the president did something good for the country after eight years of waking up to a president taking away another freedom or signing another bad treaty.
