Faced with aggressive on-air questioning about the president's wiretapping claims, Sarah Huckabee Sanders didn't flinch, she went folksy.
Speaking to George Stephanopoulos on "Good Morning America," she pulled out a version of an old line from President Lyndon Johnson: "If the president walked across the Potomac, the media would be reporting that he could not swim."
The 34-year-old spokeswoman for President Donald Trump was schooled in hardscrabble politics and down-home rhetoric from a young age by her father, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. Her way with a zinger and her unshakable loyalty to an often unpredictable boss are big reasons why the deputy press secretary is a rising star in Trump's orbit.
In recent weeks, Sanders has taken on a notably more prominent role in selling Trump's agenda, including on television and at White House press briefings. As White House press secretary Sean Spicer's public profile has fluctuated in recent weeks amid criticism of his performance, Sanders has increasingly become a chief defender of Trump in some of his toughest moments.

Months ago some of us believed that Mike Huckabee would be perfect in the role of Press Secretary. I still believe that. Maybe his daughter would be a good alternative.
[...she pulled out a version of an old line from President Lyndon Johnson: “If the president walked across the Potomac, the media would be reporting that he could not swim.”]
Funny girl, she got her humor from Mike Huckabee and he knows the new Ryan care is obamacare lite and I hope that Congress passes the freedom caucus bill that we expected. Government health care is evil and expensive and that is why the politicians and doctors like it so much as a rule, easy money for them.
“On some days recently Sanders has been the administration’s messenger of choice, even when news outlets aren’t thrilled. Last Sunday, NBC’s Chuck Todd said on-air that “Meet the Press” had sought a “senior administration official or a Cabinet secretary,” but that the “White House offered a deputy press secretary. And so we declined.”
Chuck you don’t get it. You are being frozen out as is the entire media. Why don’t you have on Mika or Jake or that old dead guy Charlie who is more lively than Scott P.
CRUZ found a bill from 1974 that would give Pence some controll to decide what can be added to bill. I’ve not found anymore on it. Just the CRUZ tweet If you see anymore please let me know
KellyAnne Conway is robotic, has a nasal screech, is a speed-talker, also runs on-and-on without coming up for air (sometimes becoming non-understandable).... and she's so repetitive with stale canned talking-points that I can't stand listening to her (though I love her dearly)....and the "mute" button gets pushed.
Sarah is straight-talking, has original thoughts and phrases, is comfy to listen to, is tough-minded.....and she knows her onions backwards and forward.
I think Sean Spicer is nigh-perfect in his job as press secretary. He's pleasant to look at, he's informed, up-to-date, succinct, polite, humorous when needed, and is the good sheriff always staying in control of the liberal, slavering press posse jammed in the room who try to throw him off his game and who try to play "gotcha" with him (with no success !)
So far, so good for me with most of the President's selections for surrogates and press handlers.

Why is everyone calling it Ryancare? Isn’t Trump on board with it?
A pretty good article, even with the AP and Yahoo snark.
Leni,
WHAT Palin says is often quite good, but the fact that she is the one saying it is a problem. However, even in what she says, she is not consistent in terms of how she shapes it to support Trump.
I think that is why she doesn’t have a spot in the administration-—despite the fact that one of her biggest champions is Steve Bannon-—is indicative of the fact that people in the WH really don’t trust her. Not that she is a backstabber, but rather that they just never know where she’ll go-—she’s sort of like Newt in that respect, and you see what jobs he doesn’t have, either.
Doh, never mind. Without looking at the title of the thread, I thought you were talking about Sarah Palin.

Those shirts that the men are wearing - yikes!
All very good choices by DJT except I do not trust Mr. Cohn, from Goldman Sachs, which is a swamp all by itself. Although he did a good job on Fox News Sunday today. Cohn is a cheap labor express promoter like all his colleagues from Goldman Sachs.
Ryan keeps repeating why this phase I bill is limited in scope....it deals only with budget items and therefore can be passed with reconciliation, and thus no filibuster possible by the rats. Repubs do not have a 60:40 majority in senate.
It is not just Ryan, all career politicians are beholden to their ultra rich, cheap labor express pushing donors. Why do you think Cruz was once pushing for 500% increase in H1-B visa’s? He received $33,000,000 from just 4 ultra rich donors. Guys like Trump, are a rarity in politics, who do not need ultra rich donors, and yet have the charisma to attract 10,000 to 40,000 people to 100 rallies.
She give better advice that Colonel Sanders and Bernie Sanders.
Oh, absolutely... course Cruz’s base problem was he is not eligible to hold the office of president.. I mean seriously, a Harvard Law School grad, born in Canada, pretending to be a ‘natural born’ US citizen... talk about pulling the Obama card..
But hey, Cruzmites, call him conservative, let US see what he can do about Lyin Ryan’s healthcare package.
