The following is a well-written article about her first getting the seat in 2011. She had lost the election to another Republican - but that guy, after three months, resigned to take on some other government job. The Republicans picked her out of a host of other candidates.

The speculation started once shocked political observers realized that Ohio House Republicans had appointed 22-year-old college senior Christina Hagan last week to be a state representative.
Did House leaders believe the young state representative would be easier to influence? Did House Speaker William G. Batchelder, R-Medina, owe a favor to Hagan’s father, former state Rep. John Hagan? Was Christina Hagan keeping the 50th District seat warm for her father, who, under term limits, can run for office again in 2012?
The Marlboro Township woman sought to quash those rumors just hours after she was sworn in at the Statehouse on Wednesday.
“If my father ran,” she said, “I’d beat him.”
Then, just as boldly: “My father has no interest in running for this seat. If he did, my mother would kill him.
