I can “recharge” my vehicle with gasoline in 5 minutes. When e-cars have a 5 minute recharge time call me. I’ll bring my check book.
Tesla makes cars
GM makes crap
Freedom isn’t free. I pay extra to the Japanese for their cars, so I can pay less to the Arab nations for their gas. If I spent even more for a Tesla, I would be free from buying gas from everyone involved in oil. You get more freedom, if you can pay for it. If anyone wants to step up to the plate and make a great car that frees me from all that and doesn’t use Government subsidies or union employees to do it... I will at least take it for a test drive.
The battery tech is coming along. Mass production drives down cost. Pushing this into near-supercar territory for early adopters was a stroke of genius. I think the subsidy will cease being necessary soon enough, but the grid has to be ready for that level of demand and it’s currently not. Infrastructure.
Make that 11.
Soon you will be able to not only pay rich Arabs for the gas in your car, you can now pay a young Arab male to drive it for you.
Until Lexus does something about that hideous grill design there’s no way I’m owning one.
Don’t they have any designers with eyes?

e-cars are joke and a toy. The quick recharge battery is not even on the horizon.
I'm not a GM guy, so I can't say much about them, but I wonder what brings you to that view.
The Lexus grill is supposedly based on a lab beaker. I think it looks like a mouth ready to devour the car in front of it. Who doesn’t want that?
The GM Union stole my retirement money
That statement alone is enough to disqualify any other opinion you have on this subject. Oil and natural gas are orders of magnitude cheaper than "renewable" energy sources (especially wind and solar, and geothermal is geographically bounded) and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future. The only non-oil/coal based energy source that is competitive is nuclear.
Just because you want it to be so doesn't make it true...
I’m with you on that, my FRIend.
Precisely why I’m not a GM guy.
Scientific illiteracy is a dangerous thing. Where, pray tell, do you think the electricity comes from to recharge said electric car? In the vast majority of cases it comes from oil or coal-powered generation facilities. Now, if the US can stop importing oil and use its natural oil and coal resources to generate energy, you'd have a pretty good argument. But last year, according to the US Dept of Energy, 64% of all power comes from coal or natural gas. Less than 15% comes from all "renewables" put together. You're still paying the Arabs to drive your Tesla...
Now you know 11. Except I own a Honda and a Hyundai.
At least the old Mazda ‘mouth’ grill was smiling!
I have personal leanings to the ovoid shaped Jaguar(ST) grille, of the 60-70s!
I don’t know. I think the GM, Chrysler, etc. bailout was dead wrong but it is not a justification for giving Musk billions of gubmint dollars too. Collecting subsidies is a business model for Musk. He is very good at getting the rest of us to pay for his schemes. In my view, Tesla is an example of gubmint subsidizing impractical products in an attempt to make them workable because that is what our betters want us to use. I do not think gubmint should be in the business of deciding which technology should be the next big thing. There is no reason to believe that gubmint is better at picking the technologies we should use then they are at doing most anything else. The Obama regime was very big on subsidizing greenie pipe dreams. I hope Trump cuts the whole thing.
