Where, pray tell, do you think the electricity comes from to recharge said electric car?

Tesla PowerWall and Tesla Solar. About another 10k to however big you want to go with the panels. Emergency power for your house and everyday power for your car. If you read back to the start of the conversation, you'll find where paying extra for solar comes into the conversation.

Next time you work "prey tell" into your comments, try to do a bit more research.

Every day that passes, what was once fact becomes presumption, and then legend.

IN 2010, the EIA predicted that levelized cost of solar energy production would be $396/MWh by 2016. The present cost is, in fact, $110/MWh. (these are averages, and vary greatly.) And that’s real cost, not government subsidized price. The PPA, in fact, is between $50 and $75. (The main reason the PPA is cheaper is because it’s incremental cost, still.)

So when the gov’t predicts the cost per MWh in 2022 $85, there’s no reason to believe they’re blowing smoke.

Other current levelized costs are:

Conventional Coal, $95
Natural gas, $57-$62
Nuclear, $103.
Onshore wind, $65
Offshore wind, $158

So $85 is extremely competitive. Lazard (bank) claims that the real-world price of utility-scale photovoltaic electricity production is between $55 and $65.

And still dropping quickly.

You are right, I shouldn’t have used that term. What I meant was a stock that has value on the basis of the company’s fundamentals, not some speculative belief in future performance which might or might not materialize. Without a doubt, the GM bankruptcy was a total fiasco and a lot of people got hurt by it.

This is what stock can do. Create a phantom worth for a company that does a small fraction of what GM or other car companies build. Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat etc.
Nothing but a website and some servers but worth billions due to stock value.

I worked with a guy. I told him about my misgivings about Bre-X. He thought I was full of crap. I said SELL NOW!

Three days later, you know the rest...
