Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk on Thursday confirmed plans for his newest company, called Neuralink Corp., revealing he will be the chief executive of a startup that aims to merge computers with brains so humans could one day engage in “consensual telepathy.”

Speaking to writer Tim Urban on the explainer website Wait but Why, Mr. Musk confirmed a Wall Street Journal report last month that Neuralink aims to implant a tiny brain...

Excerpt only. We're at the point where singularity can only be a few years away if this technology is out there.

consensual telepathy

You've provided "consent" to snooping with your EULA (end user license agreement).

Be seeing you.

I wasn’t aware of a link between the singularity and the Apcolypse.

Just to be safe, I will up my intake of cruciferous vegetables.

“Elon Musk seems to enjoy behaving like a Bond villain.”

I have always wanted to be a Bond villain. I really want to know what it is the guy will whisper to me that is more important than watching Bond die in a particularly gruesome way. I mean, I’ve been planning this death forever and somebody whispers something and I leave him alone for his final agonizing seconds?! I have to know why!!!

Wow, it’s like there’s never been any science fiction up to this point in time! (/s)

Seriously, does Mr. Musk believe he has an original thought?

Ridiculous, because he thinks that the human brain works the same way as a computer. Wrong. Very different. Information is stored holistically in the brain, with one bit of information potentially linked to huge numbers of other bits. Not so in a computer.
You can’t “download” information to the brain.

What we can expect is technology that makes it easier to retrieve information from the Internet. Better than Siri. Easier to use than by typing or speaking. This will happen.

But a “melding” of the mind and IT, no.

Seems like a discrimination lawsuit coming his way unless he also has a plan that works for progressives/liberals/democrats. They should be able to merge with computers too or it’s not fair. /s

I am pretty sure these guys killed their mother. I mean how else do you show that you’re the villain’s villain? But I do like your thinking. I’ll hire you as a dialog consultant. Thanks. They’ll rue the day they messed with Blow...uh, Blow.Blather...

"consensual telephony"

One of my favorite sci fi writers, Connie Willis wrote a good book called "Cross Talk" on this subject. I'll copy/paste the summery as it says it better than I can........

In the not-too-distant future, a simple outpatient procedure to increase empathy between romantic partners has become all the rage. And Briddey Flannigan is delighted when her boyfriend, Trent, suggests undergoing the operation prior to a marriage proposal—to enjoy better emotional connection and a perfect relationship with complete communication and understanding. But things don’t quite work out as planned ....
