It hasn’t even passed the House and gone to the Senate yet. It will. Trump will sign it. People will take from the sequence of events whatever conclusion they are predisposed to take.

I brought this up in the other thread, in brief, if spending bills require 60 votes; can’t this bill still be stopped?

There are 52 Republican Senators, 46 Democratic Senators and 2 independents, one being Bernie so he’ll side with the Dems, so that would mean 12-14 Republican Senators would have to vote for this too.

You would think, the Repubs could get 41 votes to stop this; but I’m not sure of the rules and protocol.

At the same time, I can see if Planned Parenthood were defunded in this vehicle, then, it sounds like it would be hard to get 60 votes for the bill.

I believe Mercer helped orchestrate the coup against Demint to get him out of the way. The letter from Heritage yesterday was an abomination .

I think DJT has come to realize how deep the swamp really is.

I wouldn’t want to be one of these feckless GOPe characters come September. Trump has a big mouth and will not be restrained by niceties. He might start to name names and who are funding them...on both sides of the aisle.

(while I know this isn’t popular or right, I kinda enjoy knowing that all the spying authority that Obama claimed for himself, now belongs to DJT)

I agree that the budget deal is a sh*tty deal, but am not yet ready to accuse Trump of betrayal. I will at least entertain the idea that he is playing chess instead of checkers - only time will tell. On the other hand, I am disappointed that Trump seems to be slow in recognizing that Ryan, McConnell (and sometimes Pence) actively seek out surrender.

Trump seems to be promising a shutdown over the 2018 fiscal year budget. Let’s hope that he means it. I have always assumed that “draining the swamp” would be difficult and fraught with setbacks. Trump has made progress in the areas which he controls and seems to still be figuring out how to work with congressional Republicans. At the moment I am still hopeful, but steamed about the steaming pile of manure that everyone calls a budget.

Gingrich said it stops him from building a concrete wall but not a steel or any other wall. This was Obama’s continuing resolution. Yes, a defeat but he did not have the votes for anything else.

Why is this bilge allowed on FR?

Free Republic is a forum; it's something called "Free Speech". Or are you a Fascist who wants to shut down anyone who disagrees with you?

Are there that many Freepers here who are never Trumpers?

So, anyone who is angry about the recent turn of events is a never Trumper? You believe that people can't support Trump yet still be upset at what happened? Who still support him yet think he's making a mistake?

You have an extremely tiny political understanding of things.

Turns off many of us..

There are a lot of competing voices at Free Republic. Learn it, love it, live it. Get out of your bubble.

..Have you forgotten, or did you ever know who the real enemy is?

Yes, it's people who want to silence those who have a different opinion than yours; those who think they can police Free Republic regarding its content.

Let's start with the enemy within...

>>Prepare a sane budget, and ram it through!! We have all 3 branches of government. Unreal.
*********************************************************
The fact that they can’t get the votes from their own party should expose, ONCE AND FOR ALL, the “party” fraud.

There is only UNIPARTY (Dems & RINOS) and PATRIOTS (DJT and We the People).

Once we understand where loyalties really lay, it is not difficult to see the problem we face.

South Carolina was a majority population slave state, so was Virginia or one of those other states. Are you willing to give votes to all men and women? Or some white supremacist bs society? Let’s see how red the CSA would be if they all returned.

If a white supremacist society majority slave population is what you want, dream on. That was the CSA.

I wouldn’t call it betrayal. Trump is up against the Army of Satan. Satan has to be burned out. You don’t politely ask a stump to leave your yard. You don’t drain stumps. You hammer chains into them and yank them out with pickup trucks or use tnt

My take is that it is too early to tell if Trump has betrayed us. My belief is that he eventually will, not because of his character or anything like that. Rather, because he will have no choice. That is, once someone realizes the situation the worlds, and specifically, the U.S.’s economy is in, they do what they have to to keep it afloat another day or two. It happened “bigly” in 2008. I posted a thread about it. We almost went down way back then. It’s why we got QE.

You can not use fiat money forever. There is always a day of reckoning. It always takes longer for the “big unwind” to happen than the doomsayer think it will, but once it starts, it will happen faster than anyone can predict.

This is why I was VERY glad Trump won, but I saw it more as a moral victory. Our situation is beyond a human solution. When I post on this and other sites regarding what Trump will do or not do and how it may affect us, I’m doing it mostly for entertainment value. It is my way of fiddling while Rome burns.

There is a reason I moved from Seattle to a farm in central KY. The only solution to our problem is draconian austerity, and it won’t be voluntary. Sadly, when it gets that bad, countries tend to start attacking each other. Desperate times call for desperate actions, and all that. It’s why I have so many chickens and am picking up some cattle. They are pretty easy to raise and I now have the property and fencing for it.

Trump was never the answer, no matter what fence he builds or doesn’t build. He was a solution to a specific blister on our nation. He was not its cancer cure.

And this is not just about the U.S. The whole world is in the same predicament.

The people who "get it" the best are those who have followed the budgeting process for years, or those who have otherwise taken the time to study it closely.

Both sides are spinning, which is typical/normal. The OP is a crock of BS. Garbage on top of garbage. This too is typical of the sort of information the partisans on both sides are fed.
