PARIS France on Sunday shrugged off the siren call of right-wing populism that enchanted voters in the United States and United Kingdom, rejecting anti-E.U. firebrand Marine Le Pen and choosing as its next president Emmanuel Macron, a centrist political neophyte who has pledged to revive both his struggling country and the flailing continent.
The result brought to a close a tumultuous and polarized campaign that defied prediction at nearly every turn, though not at the end. Pre-election polls had forecast a sizable Macron victory, and he appeared to have delivered, with projections issued after polls closed showing him with around 65 percent of the vote.
In a speech to the nation, Macron said the country had turned a new page in our long history. I want it to be a page of renewed hope and trust.
The president-elect also reached out to Le Pen voters, saying he could understand their anger, while vowing to defend both France and Europe. This is our civilization thats at stake, our way of life, he said.
Macron was expected to speak again later Sunday night in the grand courtyard of Pariss Louvre Museum, where news of his win spawned raucous cheers among thousands of flag-waving Macron backers.

Coming soon - The islamic Republique of Francaise.
Up next, the National Assembly elections.
Macron’s wife is a mother of three. Her first daughter is about a year older than Macron. Her second daughter was in the same class as Macron, when her ‘romance,’ with him first began [he and that daughter were both 15].
I heard there were complaints of many people receiving ballots for Le Pen which were torn when they received them, making them invalid.
Well, they may now lose everything anyway, including their country.
I couldn’t care less what happens to France. Or the rest of Europe for that matter.
This is the end of France. Within too short a time, it will be a muslim country and all that is historical and beautiful will be torn down and destroyed. Sad.
The cheese eating surrender monkeys will now get what they paid for. Will there be buyer’s remorse soon? Only time will tell.
Our best chance now would be to quit NATO, pull out of the UN other international organizations and bring our military home from foreign soil. After that, we would have to build the border wall across 100% of the southern border and also beef up our northern border, given that Canada is being run by a liberal girly man who won’t help us Christendom from the invaders. After that, close the borders to all immigrants not of the right stock and mindset. In short, we need to dig in.
Coming MUCH sooner, I fear, than anyone ever guessed; sadly.
Well the French Republic was birthed in a senselessly bloody orgy of murder and featured rejection of God with an idol of Reason. Not an auspicious beginning.
When you lose by one or two points, torn ballots are an issue, when you lose be 30, they are a distraction from the bigger problems.
The french are FINI!

it would take an astronomical number of torn ballots to move those kinds of numbers. oedipus is polling at 65%. those are South American dictator kinds of numbers.
no, france is just a f*cked up place, full,of f*cked up people.
You mean just like obozo?
I bet LaFayette isn’t even known to the average frenchman these days. Surprised Jean d’Arc is still nominally recognized there.
