Same here in NC WV...2.359
Crude oil dropped to $7/barrel back then, pushing lots of independent drillers out of business, capping lots of wells. I saw $.79 gas in 99/00 somewhere in that time period. THEN, with less competition, OPEC had free reign to gouge the hell out of the world, and they did.
It was very timely in my life, as I was SO broke back then. My Civic got 44 mpg, and I was able to survive the low income years.
Hope it keeps dropping after our RINO gov raised our gas tax, on a phony excuse, put the Road Money into the general fund, said it was broke. Trying to say we got a tax cut, what a .5% of the sales tax on groceries to off set a PROGRESSIVE gas tax HIKE? At least you can deduct the food sales tax from your income tax. Not the gas tax.
i rember it and the gas ration of ww 2.
Interesting though I wouldn’t buy it. I made my own electric bicycle. 48v and goes 30mph all on two wheels. Has high handlebars and a banana seat too. Pretty cool.
Ya got me beat there!
Me too. Don't remember the card . . .
. . . but remember the "A", "B", "C" stickers on the cars, with the back advising to "Keep it under 35" to save tires, which was the real reason for rationing as the Japs had all the rubber plantations by then.
"A" (you and me) was good for four gallons a week, "B" (Businesses) was good for eight. I dunno about "C" (Professionals like doctors). There were others for Trucks, Messengers, etc.
i don’t remember the card either,i remember the tokens for rationed food items.
