As a member of the Arctic Council, the United States has signed onto two agreements that include efforts to protect the Arctic from climate change, linking it to human activity and calling on global efforts to reduce its effects, including enforcement of the Paris Agreement.
“The Arctic Council, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, has proven to be an indispensable forum in which we can pursue cooperation,” Tillerson said in remarks to the council. “I want to affirm that the United States will continue to be an active member in this council.”

The ONLY thing Paris does is require us to pay a few $billion that will go to developing nations (like China).
If we can negotiate more than a few $billion worth of concessions from other countries to stay in it we win. (we also have to play all the PR/hype/hysteria right but Trump’s pretty good at that).
Trump (and Tillerson ) aren’t there to push an ideology (pro or anti AGW). They are there to MAGA. This is a great negotiating chip for that since the agreement obligates us to NO ACTION on global warming but lots of people are hysterical about it and will give a lot to keep up the appearance of a win.
