Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said our institutions of government were “under assault” by President Donald Trump.
Partial transcript as follows:
TAPPER: Let’s take a wider view of this for one second and then get back to more detailed questions. This week with the president firing the FBI director while this investigation is going on, and then saying that he was thinking about the Russia probe when he was making the decision, have we crossed a line here? well,
CLAPPER: Well, I will just say that the developments of the past week very bothersome, very disturbing to me. I think in many ways, our institutions are under assault both externally and that’s the big news here, is the Russian interference in our election system. And I think as well our institutions are under assault internally.
TAPPER: Internally from the president? exactly.
CLAPPER: Exactly.
TAPPER: Because he’s firing the checks and balances?
CLAPPER: Well I think you know, the founding fathers a system of three coequal branches of government, and a built-in system of checks and balances, and I feel as though that’s under assault and is eroding.

President Trump can’t “threaten” anything as long as he has those so-called, “Republicans,” hindering him.
I saw a story on the Fox News website this afternoon about Mitch McConnell and Mike Lee, saying it would be a “fantastic idea” if the president nominated, Garland, who was Obama’s pick for the Supreme Court to be the FBI director!
In other words, these RINOs want to put an Obama-appointee, liberal at the head of our nation’s most powerful law enforcement agency!
THIS is what the president is up against.

The Constitution’s system of checks and balances is the three branches of government. The Legislative, composed of the House and Senate, is set up in Article 1. The Executive, composed of the President, Vice-President, and the Departments, is set up in Article 2. The Judicial, composed of the federal courts and the Supreme Court, is set up in Article 3.
Good night! How does a former lieutenant general in the United States Air Force and the former director of national intelligence fail Government 101 with this ignorance? It is just that thinking that undercuts ALL credibility.

The fbi.gov site, under ‘Mission & Priorities’, says, “Reporting to both the attorney general and director of national intelligence, the Bureau has dual responsibilities as a law enforcement and intelligence agency.”
The FBI is just another Deep State agency spying on American citizens, and murdering America citizens when the fancy strikes them.
I came back two days ago expecting to see the smiling face of our new President, Donald J. Trump. Lo and behold, there was no picture up anywhere in the remodeled terminal, nor any reference to President of the United States welcoming arrivals at all. I strongly suspect this change has nothing to do with the ongoing (and long overdue) remodeling of the LAX international terminal, but is instead an act of dissent by government workers.
Is that the kind of institution Clapper feels is threatened? :)
I had the plesure of growing up next to a FBI agent pretty darn good guy he took me to the federal offices a few times he had girls so i fit the bill as a son he was in on the sla shoot out had tons of fun stories and like my dad hada boat i never went a week end with outbeing on the ocean dang im spoiled but i digress
You’re right. Clapper makes an alarming statement with no specifics and Tapper just lets it hang out there. Totally irresponsible by both of them.
Brennan is the one reported as the Muslim convert.
Clapper is the one said to have lied before Congress because of a comparison of his earlier statement to Congress with statements made to the press after.
G Webb says most of these types of people are compromised in a way to control them (blackmail). If someone were to meet with any of these, they might be inclined to think they are Ok people. But when their controllers call, they answer or else. Very mafia-like.
You would possibly be horrified at how little of our military's professional training and education institutions teach the Constitution. It is mentioned in passing in most regards. Pretty ironic considering that enlistment and commissioning oaths are to support and defend it against all enemies. foreign and domestic.

I also knew an actual FBI agent years ago. A great guy kind of raised as a cowboy. He did some kind of security on construction projects/unions.
Nostalgia is going to get a lot of older patriots killed when the SHTF.
I wonder myself what is going on in our military training. My association with the Navy officers in my tour of service found most of them quite knowledgeable about our institutions. I am shocked that Clapper is such a moron.
