This was not "he was drunk, weaving and happened to go up on the curb." This was he made a deliberate, well-executed turn with the full intent of running people down, and then continued for three blocks, got out was screaming and trying to tackle people, until he was taken down.
1 person was killed, at least 22 injured. Given the video, it’s fortunate that more weren’t killed.
The suspect, identified as Richard Rojas of the Bronx, had a prior arrests for driving while intoxicated.
Rojas did not have any alcohol in his system, but did test positive for K2, also known as synthetic marijuana, a banned drug that can cause anxiety, confusion, paranoia, hallucinations, rapid heart rate, vomiting and seizures
De Blasio said on WYNC that Rojas "had demonstrated mental health issues going back to childhood…that went unaddressed," according to the killer's family."It appears to be intentional in the sense that he was troubled and lashing out," the mayor said.

A family friend from PA’s daughter just escaped this. The young lady was on a field trip from school and was nearly run down. She was interviewed and on TV. Just unbelieveable!

Terrorism has a political motivation. This act appears to have no political motivation.
He would be put to death promptly in a just society, but the New York taxpayers instead will likely feed him for the next 50 years or until he kills himself.

Toxicology report says tested positive for K2. Doesn't say at what level, and if it would have been a factor, just that he had it in his system.
I disagree with death penalty for just driving under the influence, but if you cause a death while driving under the influence, then I'd have no problem with it.

Why? People need to get of their silos, take off the blinders know the facts. And see the world for what it is. Otherwise nothing will change. This isn’t fantasyland.
His final undoing was trying to take out that group of 20. He was going for A BIG SCORE but was stopped by a barrier, thank god.

I know. But we need a deterrence. With things like UBER and soon driverless vehicles, this will be less of an issue.
