He said that some of the more dangerous street life was OD's that he'd given Narcan to. Said that they'd come up swinging, because he'd just killed the high they'd spent their last dollar to get.
I do understand what you're talking about with prescription drugs, however. They're ridiculously over-prescribed, especially "Happy Pills". Plenty of marginally functional Xanax addicts out there.
And you believe that? 2.6% is virtually 100% employment and wages would be gong through the roof. This is an Obamastat.
Yup,that's for sure. And they use it *regardless* of your nationality. It's my understand that Aussies tend to run afoul of this law given that Singapore is a frequent stopover point to/from Australia.
Funny story...on my first visit to Singapore I nearly soiled my underwear when I saw that sign (a different one than the one you've posted) in the airport's Immigration Area.I almost decided to drop my BP and diabetes meds in the nearby amnesty bin...just in case.I'll never forget it.
The freedom to choose the drug one wants and when one wants it is already abrogated by law - which hasn't helped the parents, who are nonetheless making bad choices and dying. And they're enriching violent criminals along the way, which means more harm to other innocents.
About 25-30 years ago, a preferred drug combination was Doriden and Tylenol IV with Codeine. It was referred to as “Fours and Doors” and was reputed to be similar in effect to heroin.
Precisely the reason that they shouldn't be criminalized and overpriced. At least if addicts are getting pharmaceuticals, they're not going to get some unpredictable and dangerous from the black market.
Let an addict go to a doctor or a methadone or rehab clinic, if that's what it takes. Maintenance is better than Russian roulette. Just ask Rush Limbaugh...
The addict takes a lot of collateral damage with him on his way to the jail cell or the grave.
You cannot get around this inexorable externality. It will never be remedied.
I was surprised to hear a study that only 25% of opiate addicts started with a prescription for pain. The stuff must be cheap and available nowadays.
I know of a lot more abuse and death these days than in your youth. My daddy dealt with addicts. He dealt with my brothers. He taught me of the dangers of the drugs he kept under lock and key at work. But I have this memory from my childhood of my best friend’s aunt and uncle being devastated by the death of their son. They were never the same. It was all hush hush. But was it not a drug related death? He was their pride and joy out of their many children. But my memory could be way off here. I was a child maybe preteen. Do you know what I’m talking about? Maybe it had nothing to do with drugs ...
I know I’ll catch flames for this but oh well. I have sympathy for young children with cancer, or those stricken with a terrible disease through no fault of their own. People who OD from recreational drug use? Get addicted? Ruin their lives with alcohol, etc. Not so much. Have unprotected sex with multiple partners and catch a nasty disease? AIDS? Why should I have a lot of sympathy for that?
Agree. Can’t seem to generate sympathy for drug addicts. Thin the herd.
But you get them back from the jail cell. When it’s your kid, where there is life there is hope. This has been a 10 year problem for us.
What about the 3 stranded motorists and 1 good samaritan who were mowed down by an intoxicated driver? How do they come back?
“The dealers ought to be dropped where they stand, preferrably by sniper rifle, and left to rot in the sun.”
Don’t they do something like this in the Philippines or Malaysia?
Epidemic? More like stupidity.
Give up your freedom.
If you want to be the lowest common denominator, don’t tell me I have to.
Just because some idiot has a kid and OD’s on drugs doesn’t mean I must now stoop to that level. You can.
I don’t support legalization of drugs. I don’t support drunk or otherwise intoxicated driving . I don’t know what point you’re trying to make here?
In many of the counties in the NE it is the leading cause of death...
I live in Suffolk county on Long Island, kids are dropping like flies.
My daughter escaped death... If not for the grace of God my family would be one of the those statistics...
Then I misunderstood you. Apologies.
