Install a slightly larger condenser fan to compensate for the Delta T and call it good. The engineers will have your whole house rebuilt before summer is over.
Yep, R22 really got on my nerves because those systems leak very little (as opposed to R12 in cars which has rubber hoses, seals for fan belts, and easily leaks out crashes). Yet we treated R22 almost the same as R12...as if huge amounts were being needlessly dumped.
But then we have NeverTrumpers still convinced that the country could be ‘recovered’ after 4 years of Hillary flooding the country with all types of ‘immigrants’ and finally finishing off the courts as a branch of the DNC.
There’s really not much hope with this bunch...of either party.

I ran into the lack of repair companies that use R-22 last year. I had bought an A/C unit 18000btu about 4 yrs ago, and it had an extended warranty purchase until 2018.
The unit was blowing hot air, and I was selling the home, so naturally the sale became contingent on getting it serviced or replaced. I finally found someone to service, and after a fight with Frigidaire....it did happen.
So I doubt you could get someone to service R-22 units in next year. An a/c unit that uses R-22 here.... took time to find someone, as Frigidaire approved for the area service groups didn’t carry it....and must be a trained tech in that type for a warranty.

Ahh, the good ‘ol days of flushing out the reefer pipes (R-12 system) with 15 or 20 gallons of R-11 pushed thru by 100 or so pounds of liquid R-12 to clean all the burnt compressor crap out of the system so you could get the freezer back online before the Captains ice cream melted.

I remember those freon machine guns sold in the back of Guns & Ammo magazines back in the 70’s.
Load up the bb’s, screw on the freon can and let em rip!!!

Lower delta-t is trade jargon, did they explain it? Because if you have, say a 20 degree drop in temp across your coil (delta-t, say 80 deg in, 60 deg out) at a given air flow, if you increase the flow over that same coil, that delta-t will drop (say 80 deg in, 65 deg out).
I say their selling you a bill of goods.

You are correct. The original environmental myth was that refrigerants containing chlorine and fluorine were destroying the Earths ozone layer. Looking at this with a little common sense, you can see that it all was based on fraud. These refrigerants are heavier than air and break down at around 1200 degrees F. How do they get into the upper atmosphere? How will they break down in the environment?
The dirty little secret behind this is that DuPont “admitted” that refrigerants “may” be an environmental hazard. This just happened to occur about the time that their royalties on these refrigerants was expiring. DuPont made billions of dollars worldwide on Freon royalties. BTW, Freon is a DuPont trademark.
DuPont came in and saved the Earth from environmental disaster by developing a whole new family of refrigerants to replace R-11, R-12 and R-22. Rest assured that they will continue to collect billions in revenue for many years to come.
Never really believed that bit about destroying the ozone as it is my understanding that R-12 is heavier than air;goes into the ground eventually.
It was never about danger to the environment. It was about unprofitable production because of competition.
So they outlawed it and presented an incompatible solution.
It was about renewing expired patent protection.

1) DuPont’s patent’s are expiring, so they lobbied to outlaw their own product - having a much more expensive replacement in the wings.
2) CFCs are heavier than air - so how do they get in the upper atmosphere? Supposedly by breaking down, and the chlorine gas goes up, because it’s lighter than air.
3) So, if chlorine gas is the problem, what its he massive source of chlorine we make (think about this) - CFCs are literally the flea on a the hair of the tail on the dog.
Folks, just like “Global Warming” - this whole “ozone hole” is nothing but a Hoax.
BTW, if we did not have holes in the ozone at both poles, LIFE ON THE EARTH WOULD CEASE TO EXIST.
Why? Here’s a question for you to answer that will lead you to why an ozone hole is needed at the poles.
Q: In the winter, the wind blows cold from the poles down over the face of the earth (southward in every direction). How does the wind blow southward from one spot on the earth? Where does the cold wind come from? If you can’t figure this out, you might be a democrat.
We had an old ac unit that set at 78 would keep me perfectly cool. It finally quit working and we had it replaced. We have to keep the thermostat set at 76 now to keep the same cool. 78 is just too darn hot.
Have you heard that from anyone else?
Newer more efficient unit (higher BTU, maybe?) cools the house down quicker, but now is not running long enough to remove the moisture (humidity) from the air.
75 degrees at 50% humidity is a lot more comfortable than 75 degrees at 85% humidity.

So maybe a new thermostat that reads a couple of degrees different?

One of my favorite SNL skits was Aykroyd and Morris being “scientists” at the south pole studying the ozone hole and they all had big hair and were vain on themselves continually spraying hair spray to fancy themselves, all along reporting back to the US that the hole in the ozone was growing at an alarming, uncontrollable rate!!
That's how it works. Higher airflow means more heat is transferred to the coolant. Cooling is not absorbed, heat is transferred from the air to the coolant.
Convincing the American public to believe freon was the culprit for ozone depletion sounds like it was the catalyst for the AGW scam.
It takes government regulation to so thoroughly screw things up.
Some are also flammable.
Yes it was! Once the public was duped into accepting the Freon apocalypse, the AGW crowd saw their opening.
