Broadway legend Patti LuPone says if President Donald Trump came to see her new musical, War Paint, she wouldn’t perform for the “motherf***er.” While on the Tony Awards red carpet Sunday, LuPone was asked by Variety reporter Gordon Cox: “Why should President Trump come see your show?
“Well, I hope he doesn’t, because I won’t perform if he does,” LuPone responded.
“Why? “Tell me why,” Cox pressed.
“Because I hate the motherf**cker, how’s that?” LuPone answered defiantly.
LuPone, however wasn’t the only nominee to take a swipe at the President.
“Maybe it would give him a little bit of a soul? It’s hard not to feel things when you’re watching our performance,” Deneé Benton, star of the Dave Malloy musical Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, told Variety.

I called Obama some choice names in the last eight years, but never what Lupone said.
Imagine what she is implying.
Lupone should be greeted flying waves of rotten produce the next time she is on stage.
Patti doesn't seem to understand that one of the big tourist attraction for New York is going to see shows.
When you mouth off like she has then you automatically single your show out as one that fewer people may attend. Basically you are throwing money away and hurting not only you, but those you work with, the stage crew, the producers, etc.. You are single handedly helping to close your own show and putting yourself out of work.
I guess Patti has no logic in her thinking.

Patti LuPone, apparently now aging and bitter, was the person who made famous the lines, “Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina.”
Come to think of it, no wonder she’s bitter Hillary lost.
Incidentally, Evita portrays Eva Peron as almost a villain, despite thematically following Jesus Christ Superstar very, very closely. The much more sympathetic character is the completely anachronistic Che Guevera, played by the guy from Princess Bride who now does cholesterol ads, and whose character is a note-for-note lift from Judas’ character in Jesus Christ Superstar.
Ironically, Peron was written with such moxie, and determination, and successful politicking, she upends the film, and the audience usually ends up rooting for her, the way audiences tended to like Reese Witherspoon’s supposed-to-be-a-villain from Election.
The title of the play is the title of the book ( and also the PBS show about these two very famous women ), that this play is based on.
All of you who claim to NEVER having heard of Patti LuPone, probably don't go to any Broadway shows/don't keep up with any news about the theatre, and/or wouldn't know the name of ANY actor or actress, for the past 1p0 years, who only performed on Broadway and nowhere else. SO JUST STOP POSTING ABOUT THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING AT ALL ABOUT !
And for those who claim that Patti hasn't been doing anything since EVITA....YOU don't know what you're talking about either! I bet that EVITA is the ONLY show you know that she was in ! *snicker*
And before anyone decides to try to take me down, because of what I have posted, be it known that I am truly disgusted by what LuPone said and besides the fact that there hasn't been anything much, worth a damn to see on Broadway, for close to 30 years now, and what few things might be, the price of the tickets ( thanks to the unions ! )just isn't worth the experience...so I have been boycotting Broadway for that length of time!
The theatre, Hollywood, and T.V. is just crap and filled with people who can't act, direct, write, etc. and in another age, wouldn't even be able to get a job in a road show; let alone a regional theatre production!
I know who she is and I’ve never been impressed with anything I’ve ever seen her in. Any Frasier fans on here will remember the show where she was the Greek mother married to Martin’s brother. She was a crazy bytch and I see it’s not limited to her performing. Our poor President is probably losing sleep on this shocker....../s

Conservatives have minimal influence on Hollywood, and none on Broadway. Live theater is a pastime of the upper classes of the Northeast, as much as NASCAR is a pastime of blue collar folks in flyover country. You may as well sponsor a boycott of NPR or Rolling Stone magazine. It is enemy territory, and has been for decades.
Actually some of us know who Patti Lupone is and maybe have even seen her perform.
The last time I saw her she was the lead in Anything Goes and IIRC it was at Lincoln Center. I had second row center seats - courtesy of the half-price ticket office. I was glad I didn’t pay full price because she was loud and off key. She was a Martha Raye on steroids. The show was great, she was not great.
Last time I saw a mouth like that, it had a hook in it ...

Patti is so full of herself and not just focused on doing her job well as she ought to be and in round about way she is killing her colleagues employment by her selfish idiotic spewing of her thoughts, that’s how selfish she is - saying things with no regard it could effect others (performers, stage help, etc, etc) future work too.
